      ... don't eat them like that :nonofinger:
      They are much nicer, and more nutritious, once planted and grown to full size :thumbsup:

              I like the wording on the seed packet, "New type - Less thinning", does that mean.."Poor Germination"? How else do you achieve less thinning?

                Beetroot seed is a fruit, with each containing several seeds all of which can germinate. Moneta is a variety that has been bred to have only one seed per fruit so called monogerm varieties.

                  Very interesting @NigelJ . I remember the 1st time I ever sowed Beetroot and was flabbergasted at the massive number of seedlings. I didn't think I had sowed that thickly. Your explanation solves the puzzle. Many thanks.
