Question about bird feed

I'm feeding suet pellets and the birds are going mad for them,
Question is,

Will suet pellets choak young chicks? as to the likes of a whole peanuts

 

I feed Wilko's suet pellets and the blackbirds love them. I also give some to my koi and they prefer them at the moment, to their expensive Nishikoi pellets. They're not too big.

I find blackbirds love dry cat food, had a few generations brought up on it round here.
I use fat balls but find it is mostly starlings that go for them.

Recently decided that the seed that I've been feeding is pretty crap, admittedly I go for the cheapest.
I find the sparrows just pull it all out the feeder to get to the seeds they like, consequently I get loads of mess everywhere and then in warmer weather I get my own corn field.

So gone over to using sunflower hearts, but due to the price, much more sparingly.

 

Personally i think bird feed is a waste of cash. I feed the birds daily with the ends of seeded bread with / or the porridge thats stuck to the bottom of the pan. Blackbirds love it...

 

That depends on which birds you want to attract as some are specialist feeders.

 

I spend a small fortune feeding the birds; it’s one of the best, if not the best restaurants around. Peanuts, mixed seed, sunflower hearts, black sunflowers, fat balls, old bread and table scraps, they get it all. Hundreds of bird turn up every day.......they are driving me out of house and home but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

 

You could break the suet pellets in half @Jiffy if you are concerned about a choking hazard. I feed suet pellets and I notice the smaller birds like Sparrows, Bluetits will sometimes break a larger suet pellet up before eating.

I buy Blackbird and Robin seed mix, which is eaten by all the other birds too, including the Pheasants. Also provide suet peelets and solid bars, fat balls, sunflower chips, dried mealies, peanut granules, niger seed. I put out kitten biscuits and wet kitten/puppy food, which Blackbirds, Starlings, Magpies, Crows and Robins like. Sometimes buy scones or cake as treats and grated cheese, dried and fresh fruit and berries.

Well i've just put in another order
50kg Peanuts
25kg suet
50kg Sunflower
25kg no wheat seed
50kg Porridge oats
That will last about a month

 

I feed sunflower hearts, fat balls, suet blocks and dried meal worms and the odd apple
I pay £20 for a 15 kilo sack of sunflower hearts with free delivery. I find it the best feed for the birds coming in my garden as there's no waste.

 

I used to feed the birds here on the bird ball 50 in a tub for £5 but the squirrels used to destroy the food in no time besides the pigeons but they do get tried toast and bird balls off the neighbour next door...they get the water from our garden back and front and 2 doors away both neighbours there feed them well.
