Some cuties I was gifted today
I've been wanting to try the trailing begonias ( illumination apricot) for a while, I hope they're as good as I've read
A few trailing pelargoniums for another basket and a dwarf dahlia and begonia for pots
I've never grown begonias I always thought I didn't like them and I have never had orange in the garden until this year It's been muted pinks, purples and whites for ages, near the house. This year I want the patio to hurt your eyes with colour
I'm thinking lime green, cerise pink, red, orange and purple

 

Loki.... I LUV clashing colours too and always try to have a spot where they can romp away to their crazy hearts content..winters long enuf bring on the colour I say....sunglasses required

 

Hi @Jack Sparrow looks like a garden centre job again mate next week for the same plant you have but in stems...just look at the state of the bottle brushes they've had it mate

I took a photo of my plastic barrel this morning with my conifer in it @Jack Sparrow ...should stretch another 2-3yrs hopefully

This is going to be my next purchase on the list to replace my two back bottle brushes, as they're hardy plants and flower from autumn into spring but i want white ones if i can get them

Only some 'paper' pots, but no prizes for guessing whether I bought 48 (2 x 24 packs) for £2 or a single pack 36 for £1.99




(For long runner beans, giant sunflowers and giant sweetcorn, so they can be started in pots small enough for propagators, then potted on without disturbing roots into larger, deeper (rose) pots to grow on before planting out).

 

I went into B&M this morning and came out with two Eryngium Miss Marbel, two Papaver Poppies, a lavender Nepeta and a Carex Comans Bronze. I only went in for toothpaste

I picked up this nice little tray of sedums at Lidl this morning, along with the rest of my shopping. £4.99 for the six, which seemed pretty reasonable. Just what I need to grow over some of the edges around my pond and the adjacent "limestone pavement" area. The varieties according to the label are s. sexangulare, album, oreganum, spurium Voodoo, and reflexum.

Also a shot of a fused glass decoration I got given for Christmas, and which I've now hung as a suncatcher in the east-facing shed window. Yesterday morning with the sun shining through it looked especially sparkling and spring-like!

 

@Clare G you can get some good bargains at Lidl's

 

Yes @Gail_68 you can! I've lots of really nice, well-grown plants from Lidl, Asda too. The important thing I find is to buy them as soon as possible after they arrive in-store, because the supermarkets don't really know how to look after them, so they soon start to slide downhill. I therefore tend to visit Lidl on a Thursday knowing that is "Flower Market" day!

 

@Clare G it's very rarely i go out shopping with my hubby...as i'm an home bird but he does the shopping for us and loves going in to Lidl's to look at tools etc they sell and he's picked up some good stuff from there besides young plants as you say besides getting them from morrisons and bringing them back...we have clematis, lavender plants besides climbers which have all established well from young.
Knowing now that their delivery for plants is on a thursday helps more

 

You know when you go round home bargains, poundland/world, wilko and go bit over board when your not actually looking for anything in particular.....

Yeahhh..that happened yesterday.



No hope for those pink glads the corms are not much bigger than a big blueberry but the freesias are pretty decent sized.
