Is anyone else watching Shetland? I've just started watching the recordings of the latest series and what was a good series has stepped up to another level. Really very good indeed :dbgrtmb:

Hubby just got back from the supermarket and took a pic of the gardener's world magazine. He had to take it because of Nigel and Nelli

It's great, but not as good as the original series, before the kids came along and I don't like Lucy's new hairstyle.
The furby under the bed was funny.

              The Repair Shop.

The actual people who do the work I find are very skillful, particularly the guy who does the clocks and anything mechanical, like the rabbit, tonight.

However, the "treasure chest," still had a wonky leg and wobbled each time they touched it. I mean, surely they should have noticed that?

The narrator, a Brian Sewell, sound alike, with a high sense of drama with those affected hushed tones, is annoying enough, but not as much as Jay Blades, who does naff all.
Except stand there in that silly hat and those immaculate looking highly polished designer leather overalls, with incongruously, a blue ball-point pen and a tired looking one inch paint brush in his top pocket.

"Jay, you're a waste of space, but try to look useful and as if you're contributing."

              Ah! "production values, eh?"

Nor was I, I gave up with it, it was a bit boring.

But this is well worth watching.

I bought this DVD a few years ago.

On Saturday mornings, I go through the telly mag, choose what I want to watch during the coming week and programme it on my HDR. This takes the "time element," out of my day.
I can then watch any programme whenever I like or parts thereof. Sometimes I'll watch a few minutes and then discard a few programmes I've recorded, then delete them. Some go straight to delete. I'm never in a situation where in respect of TV I might say, "Well that's one hour of my life I'll never get back."

PBS America has some good documentaries.

I'm half way through a near two hour one, Lancaster : Reunion of Giants. It's on the Lancaster bomber of which there are only two remaining of over 7,000 made. They flew one from Canada to the UK. For a memorial ceremony.

It's easily forgotten that over 55,000 aircrew died in bombers. There's a huge aircrew memorial at Runnymede, for the over 20,000 who have no known grave. More aircrew died in one bomber raid than all the pilots killed in the Battle of Britain.

Some of it is quite moving. I'm appreciating the absence of a "wavy handed, in your face presenter."

Most of all the programmes we watch are recorded and then watch when we can get the time. Also it's best that way, then when hubby falls asleep we can watch it when he's not so tired. Or I'll watch it by myself if he's not interested. We do watch eastenders as it's shown. Also strictly come dancing when it's on.

Slightly different from the way we work. We don't watch much TV (too busy) and record a number of programmes - which we have been doing right back to VCR days :old: . Never watched any of our recorded programmes! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

                    Then why record them?
If It's a new drama and i can't get into the first episode then i don't watch it again. Or it might be sooner than that, it all depends.

                    Simple answer(s).

Mrs Shiney says that she would like to watch a programme or series, such as Bake Off, so I set the recorder - but she never finds time to watch it. :noidea: If she happens to get enough spare time in which she could watch it she then realises she could be getting on with something else.

For me it's even simpler. I rarely have spare time, although I only sleep between 2 - 4 hours a night, and haven't yet come across a programme that interests me enough to bother to record it. :heehee:
