Holy smoke - yes the virus is active here as well - Denmark.
Keith Hayward (Hart Canna) wrote the following article, matching my own experience:

    Canna Virus Disease

Last year I had to ditch 70 plants - Yellow Streak Virus.

One of my plants last year. It matches exactly Keith's description and photos.

Which pot size for the final potting up should I be looking for, please?
I plan to put the pots beside a Dracunculus Vulgaris (which is in the ground) so that when the flowers die down on that the foliage will still provide a back drop for the cannas.
        TIA

You can go for any pot size you like @"M" , the bigger the better, but one plant, well fed, should be ok in a 12in pot, not sure what that is in litres, but hoping Brexit sorts that one out.

For me Dracunculus loses its foliage by mid summer anyway..;)

            Thanks @pete
Mine seemed to go on forever last year  or maybe I'm thinking of the seed heads? :dunno:

MMmmmm, let mine actually produce seed one year, still trying to get it back to flowering well.
Might be wrong, but it kind of made the corms split, had lots of non flowering shoots the following year,..... but still the foliage dies down by July.

In that case, I'll *need* those cannas to be successful to fill the gap!! :heehee:

Healthy Cannas are rarely unsuccessful, whatever the weather.

I let mine produce seed last year, so your comments are very interesting. Lots of shoots already this year (pic below). Naturally, it would break my heart to miss out on the glorious perfume of those stunning blooms  :heehee: but, hey ho, you live and learn

Mine too JWK. Most of mine are in the ground. I find Pretoria quit rampant here; it needs controlling after 3 years or so. I now have a clump 7 or 8' across at the top of the garden :)

As a trial I left two cannas in the ground covered them with old compost , and put my small cold frame over them - nothing ! In fact digging them up and planting new ones today . In fact planted 11 rhizomes in buckets , dotted around my office , and two did not show . First time this has happened. Anyway they will all be planted out over the next week :blue thumb:
