I've had a busy time in the garden this afternoon.

I've cut down about 300 - 400 Verbena Bonariensis, dug up, split and potted up 70 Iris sibirica :phew:, 15 Alchemilla mollis, 15 Campanula and six Primroses. :pathd: With a bit of luck they'll all be looking good for sale on our Open Garden.

Ahh BH, thank you so much that is a very kind sentiment. I really, really feel for Carrie, I heard she has moved house to try and regrow stock, she also had a very good tutorial for identifying it within young plants. All mine were Biedermeier & Crimson Star :( I will admire them in other people's gardens and grow other bee friendly plants instead. Each year I try to lure in more pollinators.

I got downy mildew on my Aquilegias about five years ago. It's still around affecting the plants :cry3:

No such luck here - no room for a proper bonfire, and when I tried to put a bit of it through my little burner the poor thing took one look at the pile and went out! Most of it's drying in the lean-too for now, will try a little-and-often approach to burning instead :rolleyespink:

So far, here in West Cheshire, there's been no sign of it in my garden. I went on the Net to look at Aqulegia Downy Mildew images and found at least 3 of my images of Aquilegia flowers which don't have the disease:dunno::heehee:

I have noticed tiny green fly eggs under the young leaves of some of my Brugmansia cuttings that are rooting in water :cry3: . Are the plants too young to spray with bug spray? :what:

Are they [the plants] too small to stand a gentle wipe on the underleaf, kazzawazza??:snorky:

First cut of the year :yay: ...only been waiting since Jan 1st! And I beat the rain!

Went up plot, had a little bit of a rake over on 2 beds and cleared up some rubbish. Also had a good nosey at other peoples plots (my leeks are bigger than theirs!!) to see what they're up to, few people there today was lovely to see them after a few months  Took my 4 tier mini blowaway home too.

Been a busy bee again today. Up at the lotty and had a tidy up. Planted about 50 Gladioli bulbs today - half up at the lotty and half in the garden. Dug out some of the grass and weeds of the neighbours nightmare allotment plot. There were loads of red ants despite it being really wet. Also weeded the front garden, this time all on the outer side of the garden wall and transplanted some hardy geranium off shoots from a big one in the garden...will fill some gaps nicely. Looks nice and neat now and I'm shattered.

Well, if they really tiny, it might be better to keep a close eye on them until they of a handling size. A spray of any sort when they're so tiny might make them collapse. When they are big enough, and before the eggs hatch, use a systemic spray lightly.:coffee::snorky:
