I thought about that but was worried i’d break some leaves off. :cry3: There are also unopened leaves where you can see green fly eggs inside. S’pose I could try it with the bigger leaves and wait until others open up :frown:

Cut the lawn for the first time this year gave it a nice high cut without the grass box as it was in seed, then cleaned the pond as it was full of floating grass :wallbanging:  chopped up our old sofa and took it to the tip, then sowed direct lots of cosmos seeds along with other flower seeds.

Well maybe try it with one cutting and see how it copes ....i dont really swirl them about as such just leaving them to soak for a few minutes can usually have the greenfly floating off the plant as it will cause them to detach from the plant, If one cutting OK then try another ...my concern would be if you leave them too long the greenfly will weaken the plant and you could lose them anyway...sorry to sound negative just looking at it from all round

@Loki you can't see the septic tanks from the garden, this first picture is looking towards the corner they're in. The tanks are about 5ft wide by 6ft long.

              IMG_3862.JPG

I'd already cleared half of the bracken yesterday.
              IMG_3863.JPG

You can see the lower level here with one tank still covered.
              IMG_3865.JPG

Finally, job done and both tanks exposed, I'll leave what's left of the bracken to rot down. The horses were moved from the field yesterday so any re-growth I will kill off.

Thanks Armandii. :) The garden is now clear of debris so on to the next job. I may start tackling the Bamboo in the front garden that needs to come out.

Went into Wilco’s today to pick up some Cosmos seeds, but they only had the tall ones :frown: . Any ideas on what else I can put in a border, mid-height, bright and colourful?

I'll see how I go with it first. :) If my digging ankle isn't up to it (it's on borrowed time now) it'll have to be the man that can.

It's taken a couple of days to clear it but it's a job I wanted to get done as it won't be long before we need the tanks emptied.

Thank you but there's a better view across the other corner, taken last September. :)
