I've noticed mate that Pintrest give the best plants plus the lovely pic's with it :love30:...yes cottage gardens are beautiful and more if they're right in the middle of no where.;)...there's all shades of pink in the Peony's...lovely flowers.

You should see my camellia it's come out in full flower and my daffs are showing :yahoo:

Camellias are beautiful, but I understand they’re difficult to grow.

It' raining today. It's very annoying as my car is off the road and I have a day at home to get things done. I am currently decorating. I would rather be gardening. There is still so much to do.

                  G.

Camellias are not difficult to grow at all kazzawazza......in fact they are extremely easy if you remember a few things: :)
They need to grow in a neutral to acid soil. They will not like an alkaline soil at all. My own soil is neutral and they grow well here. The soil should have plenty of "goodness" in it.
Camellias are tough plants. It is the flowers that are vulnerable.....a rapid thaw after being frosted is often fatal to them...so the final consideration is to plant them where they do not get early morning sun. Dappled shade is good but they grow perfectly well in full sun esp if the soil is kept reasonably moist. Important too, for flower bud formation, that during July and August camellias are well watered. Hot sun can esp damage white flowers on camellias but in the summer the flowers have gone anyway.
Camellias are ideal for growing in a container.

Apart from a minor "emergency" early in the day I have managed to get several hours in on the garden......weeding, cutting back and dividing phormiums, knocking off the old wood from phlox, heleniums, veronicas and the like and feeding ericaceous plants.

It is another absolutely stunning day......very warm sunshine

Doing the same as @BeeHappy Been going mad sowing loads of seeds in the greenhouse. Rudbeckia, more dahlias, chinese lanterns, aquilegia and 8 different poppies. All poppies collected by my lovely grandma. At 85 she is still going strong in the garden bless her.

Looking forward to seeing her on Thursday as I will be helping her in the garden (providing the forecast is correct). Taking my battery powered hedge trimmer with me and cutting down an ivy from an archway which has gone a bit mad.

Crocus is the marmite of the plant world....love 'em or hate 'em! :noidea:

They are not for me. An impossble task but I am trying to eradicate them here along with their equally invasive cousins muscari.
Pleasant enough flowers but they are so weedy, invasive and look terrible after their very short flowering period.
Snowdrops, dwarf iris, anemone blanda, hyacinths, fritillaries, etc. are wonderful and better replacements right now
Just consider what crocus looks like after flowering before you plant too many. Ditto for planting grape muscari

My work in the garden including removing crocus produced clean, tidy weed free ground for the delightfully cheerful emerging foliage of my perennials:)
