      Today I will be going with my mum and sis to the crematorium. It would have been my Grandmas 100 th birthday. She left us a short while after her 99th last April.
      Don't know why I'm telling you this, but in some strange way, it's made me feel a bit better :)

        @HarryS

        Yes, it's a tough life being retired. :phew:

        I remember Jeremy Corbin promising that if he got into power he would give everyone an extra four days holiday a year. :Wino: I was trying to work out how 369 days holiday a year would work :scratch: :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

                Myself and Aunt Sally went to Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey) today. The weather was a bit...mucky, but still enjoyed the visit.

                  Visited my Mum in Poole Hospital again, she fell over in the bathroom in the Home last weekend and has four cracked ribs. At 93 that's not good but she is improving slightly.

                      That's not good, but at least she's on the mend :)
                      I remember one of the residents at the home grandma was in breaking her hip, she was 90, we didn't think we'd see her again :frown: She was back, bashing doors with her walker within weeks :biggrin:

                          I was astonished to read in the paper about @shiney not brushing smooth his footprints whilst visiting the Isle of Skye some years back. Shame on you!

                          Today we are experiencing 100k winds and it is still below freezing out there. I have completed my last wage earning project and am only in the planning stages of the next one so while I wait for the designer to make her fabric selections, I think it best to start my spring cleaning. We are not really having a spring yet, more like sprinter but if I get my indoor work done, I'll be all set to be outside when things warm up a bit. Today's cartoon from the same paper that brought me the shiney news..

                            This is true, when visitors see our garden and ask if I "Have you done it all since you retired?" I always answer truthfully; "Pretty much everything I did when I was working and had more time."

                            I remember a "Wicker's World" programme, where he visited a large gated community in Florida, where all the residents were retired. They involved themselves with much of the running of the place, volunteered as, postmen, firemen, police, etc.,

                            Wicker remarked that it was; "A place where you get up in the morning with nothing to do and go to bed each night with only half of it done."

                            One of the disadvantages of being retired is, "that you don't effectively get bank holidays."

                              As it was raining this afternoon. I thought would do a bit more decorating. My wife came home, said she was tired, and went to bed. I didn't realise how difficult decorating quietly could be. The roller grates as you roll it up and down the wall. The ladder squeaks every time you step on it or try to move it. These are probably inaudible to everyone else but they sounded loud to me.

                              :smile:
