My thoughts too, must have been right lashed up to plant them so early  Unless they were in the compost :ideaIPB:

Or, a bird has delivered it? I had a few last year which were the result of birds dropping the seed.

As usual, as I'm not into propagation, don't have the interest or time. I never do a lot, but it still seems to take hours, despite there being not much to do.

But I did a bit more today.

I removed the last of the dead wood off our biggest acer palmatum. Quite a bit dies off of the lower branches during the winter, which might concern me if it hadn't been happening for thirty years. It's always replaced by new branches at the top.
These little daffodils, were in a "gift tub" with some hyacinths from a friend a couple of years ago.

          P1010199.JPG

Checked on our many giant lilies, which are now beginning to show.

          P1010193.JPG

          Plenty of buds on everything.

This acer in the bed near the back fence is showing an explosion of new growth.

          P1010194.JPG

It'll need constant pruning during the year to keep it to this size.

          P1000757.JPG

But this sambuca has shown the most growth so far.

Our "hardy" gardenias have produced one flower and there's already a couple of buds. These are what we bought from T&M in 2016, which weren't cheap at over twenty quid and did nothing, (weren't very "hardy") so they replaced them at the end of last year.

The birds have been helping themselves from this bag of tumble dryer lint I put out on one of the wisterias. At least they've been busy.

Not actually raining this afternoon, which is an improvement on the last few days. Finished power washing the patio and giving the pots a good hose off; there's not much drainage on our patio, sadly, so it's more a case of moving the dirt to one corner than clearing it completely, but it looks a lot better!

Everywhere is just so wet at the moment  I've got seedlings that need potting on and more seed trays that need sowing and moving into the propagator once there's room, but it's so damp everywhere I can't bring myself to do it :noidea:

Between stopping for weather and tea breaks, managed to get to step 48 of Operation: Greenhouse before bad light stopped play. Up early in the morning to finish it off and move it into position, then off to Wickes to make the most of their 15% off by getting some slabs for the inside.

In the meantime, dinner and plenty of cups of tea this evening.

Had my final bonfire today of all the debris that was laying around the garden. Tomorrow I may re-site some slabs that I moved to dig out a bed. Nothing grows under my kitchen window, not even weeds, so a good place for those and some potted plants eventually.

Spent yesterday sorting out mums garden emptying last years tubs etc to top dress the front garden. Any compost is an improvement on the clay.

Planted out some mini hebes that were in pots and tidied up the knifophia a bit more.

Just wondered about a couple of plants-the Euphorbia...does this need pruning? Looks like there is fresh growth underneath.
                              IMG_4808.JPG
Also-these curry plants....they look like theyve died in parts...shame as they were so good before. Should I just cut out the dead bits?

                              IMG_4793.JPG
Was also suprised to sre a beautiful geum flowering already! Thought it was way too early for that!

Hi Snorky cut them back as it will allow new growth and this is the best time to do it...we had some in our garden but the smell was like having a load of junkies smoking pot, once the sun got at them. :)

                                These was ours mate:)
