Do Morrisons 'garden centre' stores have their £2 perennials in yet? Not just the climbers

What can I expect from my primulas? Will they come back bigger each year? If I bought too many now would I soon find myself overrun with them? What do others do regarding colours? Random colours or carefully selected?

If I had clusters of primulas/primrose at the front of the bed could I have clusters of cowslip behind. Would they mix in with my alliums?

Eventually got my heucheras repotted and cleared of vine weevil grubs. Took loads of cuttings from the trailing ones as well and put them in the greenhouse to give them a growth spurt. I have also treated these ones that are in the greenhouse with chemical vineweevil killer. The outdoor ones will be treated with the nematodes.

Hoping that they do well now.

Well, since Cowslips are a cousin of the Primroses they'll like it if the Primroses do.:dunno::heehee:

Depends on your taste of what plants go with what plants, but I can't see why not.:coffee::snorky:

I had an amble around the garden after driving back from Manchester and noticed some shoots growing in different areas around the "walk around" border. Nothing out of the ordinary in that, except I'm pretty sure that they are the shoots of around 20 Imperialis [red and yellow] Fritillaria that I planted two years ago in the Autumn and thought were "lost" as they didn't show at all last year:dunno::scratch: So why are they shooting now when they didn't show last year???:dunno::scratch::snorky:

:rain: all of Sun night , :rain:all day yesterday and :rain: all night through to 10.00am this morning. My garden is a sodden, muddy puddle again. Fed up of sloshing about in it. I'm moving to Cornwall!. How is Nico?

As per above not much done in garden and even less will to do it. Sunny by 12 00 ish but windy and chilly. Planted two Aubretia, one Erigeron and a Lithodora. Potted up Cuckoo flower plant I bought Monday for pond and put it in pond. Said pond is now greener and more scummier . After that I decided I just couldn't be bothered fighting the wind anymore.

I watered in slug nematodes today and then created an even more impenetrable barrier made out of short bits of bamboo to protect my lupins from the local cats. They keep burying presents :steamy: and then scratch the soil which snaps off my lupin shoots.

I can spend all day looking at plants in garden centres, all evening studying plants on the internet and all night worrying about how I would go about achieving my goals. I can then go out the next morning and the whole thing just jumps into place. What has changed? I have now looked at the problem in situ. It' a no brainer really .

If I bring the primulas to the front and then push the daffodils back, I will have created the effect I was looking for without having had to buy anymore plants.

I guess sometimes "less IS more"

Your brain must have been working in your sleep so that you were inspired when you looked at it fresh ;)
I doubt there is any among us who has looked at what they have and given it a rethink only to achieve what they first envisaged at just the cost of a little bit of time reshuffling. Good for you, swapping the daffs to the back will look lovely! :blue thumb:

Yes they have them in my local store, also some nice clematis @ £5 each they was doing some maintenance work and everything was indoors so might be best to harden them off for a week or so to be on the safe side,

One has no label so i will have to wait for it to flower it was the nicest looking plant so i had to have it :).
