Very doubtful, but as London's murder rate has only overtaken New York's for a month, it is unlikely to supersede New York's annual murders by the gun. To be honest, it's a wonder there are still people alive in NY due to the constant killings that take place there annually:doh:.
But, no doubt, those people who probably even take a gun with them to the toilet will never be convinced, although they will take the opportunity to convince themselves, using such rare occasions, of their "right" to carry a gun or have one in the House where children are... "praise the Lord, and pass the ammunition!":dunno::coffee::snorky:

Health care is also a giant issue here. We also have the aging and large boomer population and top heavy really expensive administration in our health systrm. But luckily we are mostly able to survive our medical visits.

Now, on another note, I couldn't give a hoot about the Donald's old personal garbage. He was a playboy and all of this recent Stormy stuff is really only a tempest in a D cup :snorky:

Health Care is a big issue here, Lori, in that it's a first class system, staffed by first class people, but chronically underfunded, and has been ever since the introduction of "Austerity" back in 2010.
It suffers badly during the Winters when there are viruses around and resulting patients blocking up the Accident and Emergency Departments.

I think he's an old Hippy, as he still believes in Free Love [with anyone], especially after marriage:dunno::heehee:

We have a system similar to your @ARMANDII and I have had the horrifying experience of attending various hospitals with ill friends. The actual care is quite acceptable but the accompanying nonsense is angering. Paying exorbitant car park fees to help a friend with cancer or the lengthy times waiting to be attended is unjustified given the taxes we pay.

I will be taking a friend to the cancer clinic again tomorrow for another pre-op appointment and I'm guaranteed a nice big ransom payment to get my vehicle out. It may seem petty on my part to complain about monetary considerations but it, to me, is adding insult to injury.

I think I have a very strong jaw now from clenching it and smiling. No one wants to make a friend feel as though they are a burden.

              @ARMANDII @redstar
I caught an interesting interview on Radio 4's PM programme yesterday about Glasgow's Violence Reduction Unit and how their work has significantly reduced knife crime in Glasgow. They treat it as a health problem.
Be careful of the headlines regarding murder levels in New York and London as in statistics outliers are quite common and the figures need to be taken over 6 to 12 months to get the true picture.
@CanadianLori I know that out local hospital provides parking passes for people undergoing radiotherapy.

Cherry picking statistics is a fine art practiced by our media. It sells papers. :noidea:

Our local hospitals have recently shut down their parking machines and have free parking. It may have something to do with our local MP having brought out a Private Members' Bill

Hospital Car Parking Charges (Abolition) Bill 2017-19 — UK Parliament

It has its second reading in May.

I expect it has everything to do with it! So how are the hospitals funding the car parking and maintenance now? I'd be pretty angry if, eventually, perhaps, maybe, the NHS got extra funding and it went on a car park.

As we had a Duck shot at the back of our place for 3 years, we had a dead flying duck hit our roof and landed by the back door, pellets from 12 bore hitting house(many times) and then when we was walking (on footpath) we got shot towards by one of the shooters (pellets landed 10 feet away), if i had a gun it would have been nice too shot back but then i'd be in the wrong

As a recent visitor to my loccal ( ??? ) hospital, can I say that I get extremely annoyed with people complaining about car parking fees. This money goes back into the NHS.

The £120 in taxi fares my mom and myself have had to pay to get to possibly the worst hospital in the UK goes straight to our local taxi company owners. At 11.30 pm on the Sat night I had to threaten to tell them that I would seek legal action to get a refund if we weren't out by the time double time started. I would much rather pay the NHS that money than some taxi company.

There should be some sort of system in place that over 80's get some sort of transport allowance.

Please think yourselves lucky you have transport at all, there are people who haven't.

PS..... In case you're wondering why we didn"t have an ambulance ....... because she only blacked out for a minute they wouldn't send one even though she was bleeding from her eye, forehead and ear ( subsequently needing 15 stitches ) and broke her wrist and arm.
