Too wet to do anything, but I noticed the frog pond has its first batch of frogspawn.
There's been a lot of activity in there lately.

 

Cold, wet, muddy and decidedly dreary just about sums it up. In between the I put a load of bark chippings under the cherry tree and on part of my new border in back garden - both areas have plants in. Whilst I was doing this my Pond Plants arrived . Chucked the Hornwort straight in and stuffed the rest in a bucket as it has started again.

 

Sorry mark i couldn't get to them due to maintenance work, they was in one of the entrance/exit and closed off.

Still sofa bound with trapped nerve/slipped disc and a bad rheumatoid flare up all in my back, I haven't been able to get out in the garden for 2-3 weeks and it's killing me

 

you need to treat yourself to a hot tub in your garden... then you can sit in it, get better and enjoy the garden

 

More work done clearing the rubbish dump,

Time for a skip,

Its mainly concrete i removed from various parts of the garden when i cleared it when we moved in, there is a bit of wood hopefully i will be able to burn that tonight if the rain stops.

 

Strawberry plants / raspberry canes arrived today . Been potting up the strawberries this afternoon, I got some extra free strawberry probably cause I've been waiting for ages. Its made another problem though, run out of troughs to plant them in and b&m haven't got anymore so potted up in small pots for the time being. The raspberries are going to have to wait till tomorrow evening, I did prep a site for them but been waiting that long I dumped more plants / compost etc on it.

Been GC and picked up another bag of john inns - salvia mainacht to go with kniphofia timothy and a tray of red pansy for one of the spring barrels. Very tempted by a ligularia Britt crawford but just can't find the space at the moment, for a plant that size I would have to get rid of another plant, I've already got 2 variety's of ligularia already so need to hold fire while I think of a plan

 

Look like a big job going on there Martin, I start to regret digging in the first place when I start hitting concrete god knows what else.

 

Its not as bad as it looks Perki thankfully i have cleared it once,


As i continued from this any rubbish mainly concrete went in the red area, I had 6/7 big fires and dug 8 big trees out along with lots of little trees to get it to the above stage, it was like a small wood when we bought it.

 

B&M have a good range of 9cm perennials at £1 99. They are excellent value and, if potted on now, will make large summer flowering specimens

 

Potted on more cleomes, linums, cosmos, tithonias when I had a break from painting.
Dry day despite a forecast to the contrary but some rain now. Looks like a fèw warm days ahead
Only just noticed, sorry to hear you are laid up with your back Mark, trapped nerve, etc. Fingers crossed you will soon be up and gardening

 

Never looked at B & M for plants . There is a B & M in the town , but a new one opened last year on a retail park and this one has a garden centre - news to me ! For years and years I only knew one B and M , in Southport at the end of Lord Street. Over the last 10 years they have definitely boomed .
