They're very strong, Jack. But they're also flexible and so under strong wind pressure can blow out of the window frame of the Green House so, if you don't mind occasionally putting them back into the frame, they're a very safe alternative.:snorky:

That's what I thought. I think it would be a full time job putting them back. That's assuming I can find them.

Sensible Moley....I replaced glass gh door with polycarbonate for safety reasons too. Glass in the garden is always a concern and I replace panes with toughened glass when the need arises. A glass coldframe too was replaced with plastic for the same reason .
Polycarbonate is very strong....according to thickness...but doesnt quite allow as much sunlight into the gh. Marginal though :). Clips and silicon ensures stability

Polycarbonate greenhouse glazing comes in 2 different varieties. First is the most widely used type which is 4mm Twin Wall Polycarbonate. Polycarbonate is used in bulletproof applications, airplane cockpits and luggage where impact resistance is paramount.

4mm Twin Wall Polycarbonate is basically double glazed polycarbonate sheet of the kind you’ll find on the roofs of conservatories.

The advantages of this polycarbonate are that it tends to retain heat within the greenhouse better than glass due to the double glazed nature of the panels. The biggest advantage of polycarbonate though is that it is very safe, especially important in a family garden where there are kids and pets racing around and balls being booted around. Polycarbonate will not shatter like glass and therefore will not injure children or pets if impacted. Twin wall polycarbonate has a slightly opaque or frosty appearance meaning you can’t see completely through it and this means that your plants inside are safe from sun scorching in hot weather.

The next kind of polycarbonate is the crystal clear variety. This clear as glass polycarbonate benefits from better light transmission like a glass greenhouse but offers all of the safety advantages of polycarbonate, it’s virtually unbreakable. Many gardeners prefer the look of clear polycarbonate as you can see all of your lovely plants inside clearly.

The only downside to some polycarbonate greenhouses is that because polycarbonate is so light it can be blown out by high winds. This is especially the case with cheap polycarbonate greenhouses that use glazing clips to hold the polycarbonate in place.

          We went with safety glass.

It's not quite the bargain I was looking for but it will do the job I'm sure. It feels sturdy enough and the controls look user friendly enough. I like the colour too. :snorky:

I had a wander around Aldi today while I had a bit of time to kill. I came across these Easter egg hunt buckets. @89p each I thought I could make use of them. There are 2 designs and I bought 2 of each. I loooked around for a cheap bowl of hyacinths to put in them but I wasn't so lucky today.

My front garden is much need of colour. Apart from the odd clump of daffodils, everything else is green. This display was half price less 10% loyalty discount. They had several of these on display so another day I might pick up another one.

My lavender hedge arrived today. I wasn't expecting it until early next week. The plugs are all potted up and sitting on the bottom rung of my greenhouse. The cover is still intact towards the bottom. This area is also sheltered from the wind by the stack of block pavers in front of it. It' as close to a sheltered spot as it's going to get. It has 2 choices whether it takes or not.

                      I bought this today.

I don't want any more plants. Now the weather is getting better I can concentrate on dealing with the plants I already own. In the autumn and next spring I can start again with the other parts of the garden.

Saying all that. This only cost me £3.50. I had to have it. Stick it in a 70p bucket with some fresh compost, give it a trim and by the autumn with a bit of luck I'll have a nice bush to plant out.

Tell me about it Mark......I guess I buy more plants now than I ever did. Anyway, some friends and neighbours are happy about it....they get freebies when plants have to go to make space for the new guys :)

Going for compost can be dangerous :th scifD36: and expensive
Before you ask, yes got 4 bags of compost aswell :snorky:
Finally got my container rose, sweet memories ( Whamemo) I hope it's a good choice :fingers crossed: Looking at the pot a bought for it now though, I'm thinking it's to small. It's about 1ft x 1ft :doh:I probably need one twice the size, do I? Never mind, it's was a bargain at £15 instead of £30  Why are pots sooo expensive? I do have plastic aswell but prefer terracotta. Maybe I should take pottery classes:dunno: :heehee:

We weren't image.jpeg planning on buying anything for a month or two, but went to the garden centre today, 'just for a look' as you do..... And came home £30 lighter. But they do look so pretty. Just couldn't resist. One of our new purchases was an evergreen shrub with fragrant white flowers from June to October, the foliage also changes colour in Autumn, it was reduced in the 'rescue me/clearance section' although looks very healthy and it's just perfect for our little angel memorial area. The name of the shrub escapes me at the moment, I'll see if I've saved the label. I do love the feeling of buying/rescuing from the clearance section :)
To go with that we got another Erysimum Bowles Mauve and these beautiful anemones, that I just couldn't resist.
