@martin-f I'm not sure if I want to keep the Slate as it is but that's all I have at present, apart from several very large pieces which are too heavy to lay on the edges and wrong shape anyway. There are loads of pics online using slate around ponds, so once I get some more I can tweak things a bit.

When I put my arm into the pond the other day it came out coated in green slime, don't know if that's algae that's in the water or the water itself. There seems to be a little blanket weed forming too.

Hubby mentioned another pond last night. There's space in front garden where existing pond is and the two could be joined together with a bit of landcaping in between. Also space in side garden.

Will continue putting potted plants and plants growing on in pots outside now, planting out lettuce plants, sowing beans and more today:)
The beach was amazing this morning.....the mist looked like steam rising over the sea.
Another warm sunny day in prospect:SUNsmile:

Lucius, algae will be growing fast now.....relax, the water will tend to clear in time. How about a mini stream between the 2 ponds? I once made such a thing with a pump moving the water between them. I plan on doing same thing here:)

When will this rain stop?! Got 4 gigantic bags of mp compost from B&Q yesterday and desperately want to top up the allotment beds that id dug over for flower seeds. It's just blimmin awful.

Might do some herbs and prick out some flower seedlings. Humph!

Went out to buy new bird food, got caught in the rain walking home!
Came home and decided I'd wash all the bird feeders before refilling them.

We now have happy sparrows, starlings, collared doves, wood pigeons and goldfinches. We put up a nest box last month that we got when we became RSPB members, and it's been investigated by blue tits and great tits, but sadly don't think we've got any residents in there. I wonder if it's too late now?

Also bought some grass seed to fill in some bare patches and thicken up the lawn. That's been put down now, so a bit more rain wouldn't go a miss, to water it all in ;)

Ditto Snorks, making me feel better about not being able to get out there though. Wonderful shaped garden you have, are you semi-rural?

It's a little oddly shaped at the front. The raised ground is actually from he ground source heat pump system under the grass-its settling gradually-but there's is quite a difference in the levels of the land anyway. It used to be a farm :)

The Greater Manchester area is an "Area 51," as far as the BBC is concerned.
A look at the "red button" forecast for "North," will show that there are no weather icons at the bottom of the page where we are. Similarly, a look at the page for "Midlands" and there will be none at the top of the page. So you've no real idea what it's going to do.
It's so unpredictable, you couldn't make any hard and fast rules.
We played golf this morning, teeing off at 9.30 a.m. in heavy mist. I was wearing a short sleeved polo shirt, a long sleeved jumper and a waterproof top and over-trousers. By 11.00 a.m. it was bright sunshine and very warm. So it was down to "shirt-sleeve order." Came home around 2.00p.m. after lunch, spent an hour in the garden, then it started raining and the temperature had dropped.

I dug out our solar lights, yesterday.
We've had them a few years. We've got eight.

                          This type.

Each year in October I take out the batteries and give the contacts a spray of switch cleaner and put them away in a polystyrene box. I clean the tubes and then give them a spray of WD40, then pack them away too.
They come out six months later looking as good as new.

I recharge the batteries, assemble them and put them out, they never fail to work.

I'm quite good at bunker shots, rarely fail to get out, but I wouldn't like to be in that one.

Golfers are quite cruel, if a partner is having difficulty, we usually say (or used to as it wore a bit thin eventually), "Want to stop for a Hamlet?"

After I'd repotted the Sisyrinchium this evening, I remembered I had 40 Gladioli in a bag that I stuffed away on a shelf and forgotten, so I planted them in groups of five around the borders just before it started to rain!!!:snorky:
