    Hi All.

I have 2 sheds, the first is a standard 10x8, but the previous owner then built another shed at the back connecting them together which is about 6x8 I use this as a tool shed.

Unfortunately the roof on the smaller shed has leaked over the winter due to ivy growing under the felt from a neighbours garden. Currently the 2 sheds have been felted in one. Is there a way to just felt the rear one as there is nothing wrong with the front one.

I have not felted a roof before, but looking at YouTube I do not think it is too difficult, just not sure if there is a way of doing the necessary roof to keep cost down.

    Hi,

Would not waste your time trying to do just one half as the other cannot be that far behind, plus you will have to overlap at some point on the apex which might visually look odd, unless you create a ridge capping piece as below.

Reckon you could do it all with just 2 or 3 rolls of green mineral felt, about £60.
If the total length + edging is under 5mts then you could do 2 lengths without any joins.

As you say , plenty of ytubes around, and adding some external battens will help in a really windy site.

10 x 8 and 6 x 8 usually have different pitch roofs, and maybe different height eaves, so it's difficult to envisage what the junction between them is like without a picture or sketch, but I expect that if just one is refelted you will have a vertical raking seam(s) at the junction between old and new, which even with a close nailed lap could enable water ingress in driving rain, so seal the overlap with roofing felt adhesive.

P.S. Next week will be a very good time for it as, not only being dry, the felt will expand in the heat and give a nice flat finish.

I'd be incline to wait for a warm day as the felt will be easier to handle, more flexible.

That's the stuff I use and that' a very good price so it looks like I'll be re-felting the in-laws shed next week (plus putting up another polytunnel, plus re-covering another polytunnel, plus erecting a metal & polycarbonate gazebo, plus rotorvating several plots - no sitting around in the sunshine for me!).

            Thanks all.

I’m going to do the lot in one, rather than having to do the other one in a few years.
