@Gail_68 our kids school have them do runner beans! They grow them in a plastic cup for weeks in a sunny classroom :rolleyespink: then send the proud little cherubs out with beans 2 feet long on what is usually the windiest day of the year  A playground of heartbroken children :wallbanging:

@Gail_68 the dwarf sunflowers are around 18" high and look good in a pot or border. I agree with you that that tall ones can look straggly, but I do like the idea of blocking out the neighbour's view ;)

Well that's a bit stupid and no wonder it annoys you because the kids themselves are pleased with what they've established :)

My eyes are getting worse and that blue was just glaring :wallbanging: might have to magnify the screen size again :frown: ok at distance,

Ive just planted the same mixed packet that's in the picture some of the packets didn't do well that year but the £2 cheap mixed packet was great, the packets was back this year (one of the pound shops forget what one) £2 well spent in my eyes :)

My Sunflower Sunburst seedlings were potted on a couple of days back and they look in good health so far. These vary in size, between 4 - 6ft in height and colours ranging from yellows, orange, red, brown/rusty!

These were sown using seeds I self harvested from the best head, out of 5 grown last year.

Like a few have already mentioned, I am going to sow a similar size contrasting variety and attempt to create a screen down the allotment between a neighbours plot which looks a little worse for wear. Out of sight, out of mind.!
