They're not "flowers" on your Flamingo Gail.....that's the leaf colour. Grow a couple here too....a marmite plant but I love it :)
Nice plants lucius.......I planted Darwinii several years ago and now everyone around here has one. Currently laden with beautiful orange flowers. More grasses too! You have got the ornamental grass bug now!:snorky:

My Berberis Darwinii tree was blown down in a winter storm. I have bought the smaller version to replace it, only grows to a metre tall. It's one of my favourites as supports birds and bees. The Foxtails Barleys have given up, so needed to replace them. Bought two Blue grasses and a feather reed. I want to buy more Foxtail Barley at some point as they look stunning.

          How is Nico ?

I've started on soaking some of the 520 runner beans.

I shall also put some Bridgwater beans into soak and keep my fingers crossed that they will do OK. We've had some nasty hard shelled, flying beetle type bugs eating their way out of the beans for the last two months!!! We check them twice a day.

Morning lucius.......thick mist over the beach today but just a few miles east its sunny ! Might be one of those days when the mist will hang around all day
Nico is fine.....sharp teeth, full of fun and adding a kg a week in weight.
I had a feeling your hordeums would fail....not convinced by WCN response to you at all! Buy a packet of HJ online, sow asap and you will have as many grasses as you want:)

520 bean seeds Shiney!! Used to sow approx 100 but now 30 does me

Gail, I guess that colour on Salix Flamingo does indeed look like flowers......if you like that effect (and I do) check out Acer Flamingo; bigger leaves but very similar colouring on a much bigger plant:)

@Verdun those are just the runners - but we do sell the plants and the beans when they're cropping. I get them wholesale so they're quite cheap. :blue thumb: We shall also be growing a load of Bridgwater beans, Blue Lake French beans, and yellow French beans. :hate-shocked:

Morning Gail......I prune Acer Flamingo back hard every year so never a "tree". It then makes a large mounded shrub with showy juvenile foliage at around 7' x 9' to 10' across. I have a tall purple canna with it to make a colourful combination throughout summer....who needs flowers?:)

We cram a lot of things into the garden, whereas all our neighbours just have fairly minimal/normal gardens. :)

                            Sounds great Shiney :)

Lucius, I enjoy foliage.......for example, astrantias are great flowering plants but add a variegated form like Sunningdale Variegata that will shine like a beacon long before the flowers are out. Purple shrubs, blue eucalyptus, yellow dogwoods, silver artemisias and convolvulous cneorum etc., etc., do give loads of colour without a single flower. Just added phlox Goldmine......careful, you really will need your sunglasses to see its foliage!!! :snorky:
