Like everybody else its been a lovely sunny day, looks like I've been abroad with the sun tan I've got on my arms / back of neck.

Picked up some manure for free from a job I work at, so put some on the potato bed just need to mulch the GH border with the rest. check up on plants to see if any are wilting all ok. Sprayed some weeds in the lawn with lawn weed killer and called it a day.

Green bin is for recycling. Brown bin is for garden waste. I think we just paid £30 for the year. Its well worth it and saves repeated trips to the tip. Our bin is always full and very heavy. We make sure we get our moneys worth ;) :heehee:

Lucius, how about a miscanthus variegatus with your heleniums? A white variegation, quite unique among the miscanthus, that looks good with the strong colours of heleniums, sets them off perfectly. Miscanthus Morning Light too but is more delicate with a delightful fountain shape about it.:)
Calamagrostis Overdam, also white variegated but with mid summer flowers, would also look good with heleniums I think:)
I also like sanguisorbas (Red Thunder for example) and verbena bonariensis with heleniums.:)

@Verdun :ThankYou:. I have two Calamagrostis Overdam , so I could move them or buy more. As regards the Miscanthus I would likely have to buy online. I'm a little disappointed with WCN, don't think I want to use them again. After purchasing the grasses I bought a white Buddliea from them, which looked a bit sorry for itself when it arrived and , so far, hasn't improved that much. But, I think it'll be okay eventually.

Morning lucius, no it would be wasteful and unnecessary to buy another Overdam. Now is an ideal time to divide Overdam if your plant is big enough.
I really like M.Variegatus as an ornamental foliage plant......it sets off so many things.....so I would be inclined to go for that.
Do you have space for stipa gigantea? This is a superb thing. A see through sort of grass topped with golden oat flowers from mid summer through to late summer. Evergreen too. Get the sun behind it for a truly impressive spectacle. There is a dwarfer form called Goldilocks (not grown this one)
Knoll Gardens is excellent for grasses and will supply all of these :)
Hmmmm! WCN has been disappointing; small plants and not cheap:sad:

Update: 90+% of them have bought it. Even watering them twice a day and with the door and window fully opened, almost every conceivable shade of green has drained out of them.

Thank god for that Vince......part of a local beach down here is for nudists. I need to take my binoculars to check! :snorky:

Mist has mostly gone and it is hot.....just taken puppy for a walk on the "famous" King George's Walkway. Lots of tender, unusual and hardy plants on this semi tropical spot:)
An azalea given to me a few years back......well, the owner did not like the brash cerise flowers!! ......is now in full flower; I reckon it's 3 or 4 weeks later than usual :)

A lot of sun today, so the patio absorbed a lot of heat. The dozen or so ceramic pots on here are all on plastic pot movers, so no direct contact with the York stone, but still must have got quite warm, so they got a watering. As did quite a few new plants and the lawn too.

Putting a stop to lily beetle orgies..
They are everywhere! Even on plants that are not lillies! Must have killed about 30 the last few days, I've even used a spray last night, they reappeared and were at it again this morning! Dirty bug...s!

I’ve chopped and cleared and bought plasters after my experience of cutting back and down a seagull rose that’s I’ve neglected for 4 years.

The thorns on these buggers are like sharks teeth. But hey ho Woo did warn me♥️

The flowers will smell like rice pudding and honey though so all goodx

Edit, botherers is a good substitute for what I actually typed♥️♥️

Not my garden, but my in-laws, re-felting their 10 x 8 shed which turned out to be a bigger job than expected as the eaves downstand had rotted and needed replacing, all @HarryS 's fault for posting about reduced roofing felt at Wickes.

Cleaned the pond and pump out then set to work chopping the second stump, i got it cut after lots of huffing and puffing swinging the axe, then started digging round it to get it out.

Where the snow had melted and exposed bare ground, I dropped grass seed and then shoveled a little snow on top to water the seed in.

It was up to 37f and sunny so I only needed a cardeigan to keep me warm as I was puttering around.

                                Wonderful, absolutely wonderful!
