. All those fancy bits add to the overheads and the customers have to pay for them. I tend to use smaller nurseries rather than garden centres. Hill House is excellent if you can find it.

      You're right.

We spent over £30 in Bent's the last time we went there and we only had lunch!

We use to use a local nursery in Timperley for decades, they also had a stall on Altrincham market, where my wife bought the little damaged azalea in a 4" pot we've got in our front garden.
      This one.

The nursery was next to the Bridgewater Canal. It was handy as there was a nice pub next door where we could have lunch after a look around. The pub's still there, but the nursery is now gone, replaced by a huge housing estate.

A few scattered clouds early this morning turning to :hotsun: this afternoon. Quite tired due to lack of sleep so not much enthusiasm for gardening. Would much rather have got out a zero and slept in the sun for a few hours but made myself do a bit. Planted my wildflower plugs with the Heleniums. Planted two of my three new grasses. Planted two Oregano in the bath to replace the two that died. Removed the water forget me not and planted what's left of it into the bog garden - don't rate its chances very highly but you never know. Daily inspection of pond revealed tiny red wriggling worms swimming around, a tiny beetle like insect also swimming around and tiny fly like insect that was hopping across surface of the water :yay: Any idea what they could be? I'm delighted to see the insect life moving in but the more I look at the pond the more I think I don't like it :hate-shocked: :dunno:.

I started the yearly battle against slugs and snails eating my hostas.
I put serrated copper tape around the pots and defence gel around the pot rim.

              I'll keep you all updated.

Every year they end up ravaged.

That's why I did the hanging basket planting.

They've destroyed some plants here in the past destroying the leaves, so i don't blame you for protecting your plants :)

                    Woe is me!!!

Sadly my joy, life of gardening seems to have taken a turn for the worst. Not wishing to get the Staty (violin) out nut since having a short course of chemo, I just don't seem to have the get up and go.
I view my tiny garden from the upper floor kitchen window. Those chimbing roses really do need attention. The whole garden is green and flourishing. A plant, Campanula that for years I just couldn't grow, yet my next door neighbour grew it. She passed away and I inherited it. Now it's everywhere. Sadly Many of my roses have died. A big gasp from friends.

I ventured into the greenhouse and found, due to my lack of TLC many dead or past caring for plants. I planted up some new lilies and now I see some fuchsias are coming back again. The weather has changed so much yet again and today for instance, I have put the central heating back on. Never mind. Please enjoy your gardening.

We have had the central heating on here too. It's been raining on and off for the last 4 days (If not more). It's very depressing.

Never mind Mike ......enjoy your little garden anyway :)

Wonderful albeit brief visit to the beach this morning. Bit of a chill in the air but peaceful. Another sunny day to come.

Will trim back the heathers..white, pink and red carneas that have been flowering for many weeks now. Lots of argyranthemums, felicias, sunpatiens, etc. have been hardening off for a few weeks now and in 1 and 2 litre pots and ready for planting out. Wallflowers have been at least 4 weeks late this year and instead of going over now and ready for removal they are looking pristine. Shame to pull them out just yet:noidea:
