Unheated, well it should be ok in a normal year.
This year dont seem quite normal, but if the plants are given a few days to acclimatize then I'd go for it, but be careful on the watering until you see some strong growth.

    Hi,

It looks like we are in for some warmer weather so think I would risk them in the greenhouse now, though you could keep the odd one back in the house just in case.

Mine have been in there all the time, though I do have a bit of heat when it falls below 4c.

If it does forecast frost again you can always wrap them up in hort fleece or newspaper etc for the night.

A min /max thermometer in there is always handy so you can see how low it actually goes when a frost is around, often it stays warm enough inside the greenhouse.
You might also be surprised at how high it can get as well !

This is my first year of growing anything so have a lot to learn but these Tomatoes have some bud things on where the flowers come from. Thats why I wondered if it would be ok to put in greenhouse now. I've been sitting them in the greenhouse every day a long with the Cucumber Plant which has loads of flowers on but no Cucumbers.

        Hi,

I would, if they are big enough for have the first flower truss then they should be fairly tough.

How are you going to grow them in the greenhouse, in large pots , growbags ?

What varieties have you got ? so many to choose from these days.

Find that using water thats at greenhouse temp and warming up any compost/growbags for a day in the greenhouse avoids any shock when moving them on.

Yes I have some of them halo pots and grow bags. I'm growing Moneymaker, San Marzano, One called a Mr Stripey, Cherry Snow White, Emerald Green Cherry and Cherokee Smokey Purple which are all heirlooms.

              Hi,

Wow, you have got an unusual collection there, would be keen to see photos of how they grow and crop over the season.
Its worth keeping a diary of how the perform, toms can be fickle, good one season, poorer the next.

The Courgette, perhaps better if you harden it off for a week, somewhere sheltered during the day and fleecing it or bringing it back into the greenhouse if its forecast cold overnight.
You will need a big pot though, and plenty of regular watering, often better in the ground or as some say on top of a compost heap.
The leaves often get covered in white mildew, but they still fruit fine.

Definitely too early to put toms in greenhouse unless heated. I live in Co Durham and my greenhouse is getting down to 3 or 4 degrees on a night, give it a couple of weeks.
One really cold night by- by plants
              regards Sandy

My tomatos have been in the unheated greenhouse for a few weeks in southern England. I planted them in their growbags this morning......may have to get out the bubble wrap but I think they’ll be ok.

Can't wait to put them in greenhouse as toms are 12" high and have started to flower.

Just something to remember:- if putting tomatoes and cucumbers in the same greenhouse it is better to have the tomatoes nearer the door and/or ventilation. Cues prefer moister conditions than toms. Toms can get fungal problems in too humid conditions.

Thanks for advice. Will make sure I put the Toms near to the door and the Cuc at the back. Should you leave window open constantly or not? Also when do you start feeding Tomatoes, Cuc and Courgettes.

                  Hi,

At the very least you need to shut the windows at night, but thats where an auto vent add on kit becomes your best friend.

You start feeding once the first fruits have 'set' eg you can just see the little green toms as the flowers begin to fade.

What you may also need to do is hand pollinate them if you don't get any bees in the greenhouse.
A small very soft brush and just tickle the flowers, they say around midday is the best time.

The toms, depending on how you are growing them, if as Cordons, then the side shoots will need removing, again easier to remove in the morning.
Expect some of your heritage varieties will be more bush types where you do not side shoot them ..?

Some suggest you stop the toms after 4 or 5 trusses, never have, let them go on for 8 or more, if you have not got the roof height, you can train the lead shoot back down the cane, its what the commercial guys do.
