I do envy you your garden lighting. That's something that we would love to get sorted here...

 

Back from the beach......calm, no wind, gentle surf, blue sky and feeling warm

Will be planting salvia patens Cambridge and leonotis leonorus that has survived the winter from last year. Will split hosta First Frost and plant out. Mowing, weeding, netting blueberries are all intended tasks today. Time too to take the rest of the tender plants outside

Laid some turf , to smooth out a dip in my lawn . Potting up some perennials today. Looks like a good weekend ahead so need to check the BBQ gas bottle and the beer supply

To work at night is totally SICK ...as i'd go mad at my other half if he tried doing it... think of the neighbours mate

 

A busy and expensive couple of weeks in the garden. We finally decided on and bought the waterbutt for the greenhouse, then immediately hated how it looked in the garden. A DIY job using some artificial trellising and some garden canes has somewhat blocked it, at least from the sitting areas. We'll see how it fares as the year goes on, I still think it needs something a little more substantial.



Elsewhere, the flower bed that emerged after whatever the giant bush there was decided to topple over is taking shape. After rearranging the plants that were already in there, we've added a buxus and a couple of rhododendrons (though I'm thinking a couple more smaller ones could fit in there too). It's really opened up the garden on that side, with the two decks feeling a lot less like two separate spaces.


Add to that pressure washing the decks, slabs and pathway and (while we've still got some way to go, with the two new sleeper beds to fill) a bunch of the bigger gardening projects we had pencilled in for this year are now finished...ish.

 

I was working for a client today, whilst weeding I case across two common lizards ‘fighting’ or so I thought. I looked through the video a couple of times and I think they were in fact mating! They weren’t particularly fussed until I tried to get a better shot of the ‘fight’

My postman arrived at 5pm with my greenhouse cropped bolts so I finished my greenhouse shelf.

I bought the coloured and terracotta pots today at Ikea.
The coloured pots were £1 each and the terracotta pot and saucer was £2 for the set.
I've already drilled holes in the bottom of the coloured pots.

The white porcelain trays were reduced in Wilko at 75p each and the plants in them were given to me by a friend in work. They are venus fly traps and butterworts.

 

I have this problem too. But aren't they a great comfort too? Funny how they just turn up just in the tree that happens to be next to where you are working.

I chose cheap bulkhead lights similar to this but mine have metal clips to hold the glass,

When i first installed them i had them on a plug, ive recently put them on a fused spur indoors at the side of the patio door.

 

Moley the trellising looks ok mate and the rest of your garden is very fetching ....my hubby as put leaf trellising across the back of our garden mesh to block any view and it looks more private

 

Now listen here Craig i wear spec's mate but i'd need a besides to see that pic to view ...as i have a lizard mate

 

Or on the kitchen worktop where you want to start preparing food - he knows he is not supposed to be there. Or winding himself around my legs when I've just got up and not fully awake.

 

Been a bit under the weather the past week, so haven't commented much but still been busy in the garden. Plants getting moved and planted, manged to get some more planted this evening 2 lupins - delphinium - pervorskia - salvia and others . I keep planting plants but keep potting more plants up at the same time, the plant stash never seems to go down

Your garden really come on @martin-f looks fantastic now.

The seating area looks nice @Moley, I like sunken seating area eye level same as the plants.
