My post comes at all different times of the day.
Sometimes I won't get any post for a few days and then I'll get a load.

Royal Mail only employ part time staff which is why they come and go and RM can't keep staff.

Well, I was going to cut the grass...

...but less than 1 grass-box in (for a 6-7 box lawn), the cable for the self-propelling system snapped. I can't see how to fix it easily, and it's just 2 years into its 5 year guarantee. So instead of gardening, I've been revising how to write complaint letters in Dutch, and emailing the garden centre where we bought it...

I suppose I'll just have to get on with soil-sifting instead!

Been a busy bee the last couple of days. Yesterday had a good day up at the allotment. Nearly all the beds are full barring the beds for cut flowers. Wont be long til they're planted out.

Today i pulled all the bulbs put the troughs and pots at the front as they were looking a mess. Planted up the nemesia, bought a couple of cordyline and planted in some creeping jenny from some I already had.

God job I emptied the plant pot with the creeping jenny. Was being destroyed by vine weevil grrrr

Didn't do a lot, as it was golf in the morning, some "justgetme" shopping on the way home after lunch. Then spent an hour programming my new leccy piano. But I did manage to tidy the front garden. Shaped up the small hedge between us and next door and pruned the three big viburnums.
They'd take over given half a chance and the rhodos and azaleas would always come off worst.
They begin to encroach over the unseen curtilage wall and start to restrict the width of the pavement, if I don't do it each year.

                          P1010397.JPG

I then washed down the rail of the pergola next to the pool and the exterior of the tea-house, ready for some painting tomorrow.

I did two wall troughs today South and North facing.

                            South:
                            Two Little Leo Sunflowers.

                            SDC11642.JPG

                            North:

One Geranium Splish Splash and two golden oregano (only to fill the space whilst the Geranium gets established).

                            SDC11641.JPG

Both I lined with an old compost bag and I did an experiment this year.

Usually the outside of the coco liner gets loose and starts to fall apart so what I did was to spray the outside of the liners with clear lacquer in the hope that it will hold it all together for a bit longer.
                            I'll report back what happens.

This evening I planted out groups of malva alba , agastache Tangerine, lilies, Veronica First Love and divided primulas.
Should be some extensive planting over the next few days :)

Watered the new lawn again then gave the decking a needed brushing down and a general tidy up, the new grass is quite a good match to the old, its still work in progress but coming along ok a good job done clearing this area.
