Over the past couple of weeks when I walked along the bit of path between the conservatory and the weeping cherry a dove would sometime fly out and almost hit me in the face in her haste to get away. I may have chastised her for scaring me :snorky:. I didn't really think anything of it, just thought dove was sitting in the tree. Anyway, today I walked along path and almost had a face full of feathers. I looked into the tree and saw this. The nest is in the centre and two white eggs can be seen. All makes sense now. Delighted but slightly concerned that nest doesn't look particularly robust or private enough. Obviously we will avoid using that bit of the path now.

I googled doves and read that the nests are just a flimsy platform of twigs. Not much luxury for the chicks :dunno:. Both parents incubate and feed the chicks. Very excited as not had doves nesting in the garden before. We can keep an eye of developments by peering around the edge of the blinds in the conservatory ( blinds are drawn )

The babies were noticeably bigger a few days ago

But they had flown the nest by yesterday. So where do they sleep when they have flown the nest?

This wouldn't keep still so had problems taking the photo. I guess it's an Orange Tip :heehee: and I think this is the male. I seem to remember that they like to lay their eggs on Honesty. We have plenty of them around and he's on one of the flowers. :blue thumb:

There have been a few Orange Tips through the garden but nothing took their fancy so they didn't stop for a pic!:frown:

You'll have to grow some Honesty. You don't have to just have the pink variety.

There's a pair of Canada Geese nesting on an island in the pond in the wood where we take Dog for a run most days.

Their eggs should be hatching any day now so I'm taking my camera every time we visit to try and get the first baby gosling pics.
