Davidii, never actually seen one of those in flower @Tetters :blue thumb:

I thought I'd have a try at planting up an aeonium pot this year, for summer interest, OK I cheated, I used one echeveria.

When I planted the Davidii, it was just a tiddler - about 12 inches high. I knew it was a very slow growing tree, and didn`t actually believe I would ever see the bracts on it. I was absolutely overjoyed when I saw those first little white ''hankies''
I just hope that it will never be chopped down after my death.
It certainly pays to be patient :)

When I was young I was very patient, as you get older patience seems to get in shorter supply.

:ideaIPB: Ah ha... I was looking for a new project! How would you care to join my brand new ''Patience Class'' the fees will be quite reasonable.
New students will need to display a sense of humour and bring their own weeding tools etc (part of the necessary therapy)
Camping facilities can be provided - back to basic mode only.

I adore wisteria and laburnums :wub2: I haven't got flowers on either of mine :cry3:.

How old is your handkerchief tree @Tetters ?

I'm growing one from seed - jeez is it slow!

The one at OBG blooms every year. So does their Sophora davidii.

Oh how I wish I`d kept diaries ... I`m pretty sure it was about 2000 - 2004 I planted it.
@longk - let`s hope you are young and healthy enough to see the rewards!
I have lots of silver birch trees here that I grew from seed - they are huge. I got 108 trees from one catkin - and am growing a few more at the moment (just can`t help it)

Maybe it is a too sunny/dry position. Mine were originally planted in the border where there is baking heat all day. So i dug them up and moved them about 2 years ago when we first moved in. Now it's much happier and healthier. After I moved them I watered them a lot and fed them and the improvement in their foliage was very quick.

Ive one that is just about to flower and another one which is a little behind....I recall it being the same last year. Where abouts in the uk are you??

Still needs a bit of a tidy up around the front edge but looking good so far.....praying there won't be that awful mildew like last year! (I've tried not to cram it so full to let air flow)
