    Hello all

Can someone please identify this Shrub for me?

    2018-05-15 13.57.40.jpg

I am trying to find out what I have in the garden at the moment so I can gain a better understanding of how to look after them.

    Thanks in advance

    Kevin

    Hi Kevin!
I take it you wish to know what the shrub in the foreground is? It would be helpful to have a close-up of the leaves (with a hand for scale = even better!) and if there are flowers / flower-buds, a shot of them? A lot of plant identification is based on leaf (e.g. In pairs / alternate along the stem), and of course flowers!

    TIA

      Hello

      Thanks for the reply.

I have taken a closer shot of it:

      2018-05-15 14.44.10.jpg

There are no flowers on it at the moment but when it does flower they are different colours.

When it was planted more than 20 years ago it was sold as something like 'Joseph's Multicoloured Dream Coat'.

I have searched for that name with no success.

      Thanks in advance

      Kevin

      P.S

      I forgot the hand, sorry.

The leaves are only a few inches long

          Hello

          Thanks for the reply.

I have just googled 'Spiraea Japonica Shiroban' and it does indeed look to be it.

          Thanks for your help

This makes me wonder if you might also have a Weigela ''Dart`s color dream'' in your garden ??

            Spiraea leaves are alternate.
Weigela leaves are opposite which rules it out as an option ..sorry Tetters.

I agree that the shrub we are talking about is Spiraea Shirobana. You misunderstand me @Silver surfer :)

As I said previously - I wondered if there may also be a Weigela with the above name - as the op remembers a similar name being mentioned at some time in the past.

I`d find it quite difficult to forget Spiraea leaves, as I`ve propagated thousands ....and so many varieties too.

Been here for nearly 8 years Mike...as well as several other places.
Still very sad that RHS forums died and RHS opted to use Facebook...which I refuse to use.
