For those about to plant their tomatoes I recommend using mycorrhizal fungi to give the plants vigour, they get bigger root systems and become more disease resistant and hence better yields. Wilkos is about the cheapest I can find:

It's more than enough for my 30+ tomatoes plus a few cucumbers and peppers. I had some left over from last year.

I always use Vaminoc mycorrhizal fungi but was unable to get any this yearwhen I started running out, it was much cheaper than the other brands but seems to have disappeared ?
The cheapest I have seen is this one
                EMPATHY-ROOTGROW-RHS-APPROVED-800-GRAMS-PRODUCED-BY-PLANTWORKS on E bay
Don't know if it is any good. 800 grms for £9.99

                  That's a good price.

The 360g packs are better value, 2.4 times as much for double the cost. I always get mine at the end of season at 50% off, only slightly cheaper than those 800g packs from ebay.

Wilko Best Rootgrow Mycorrhizal Fungi 360g

I used a whole 360g pack for 32 potato plants and will use the same amount per plant for my competition tomatoes (and marrows).

I watched Monty Don chucking in a handful when planting a shrub, I bet he doesn't wait for the 50% off sale at Wilkos.

He lives in 'Gardeners World', not the real world.

Bet he doesn't divide the number of grammes in the packet by the number of plants, then use scales accurate to 0.1g to assess how much to use in the little scoop to avoid running out and needing to buy another pack.
