We've got friends who have only annual plants. They're actually perennials but they never look after them and then go to the garden centre each year to buy new ones!

They have stopped asking us why their plants keep dying. :heehee:

They need ericaceous (acidic) compost. Although yours looks OK, in my chalky soil the leaves go yellow so I could be wrong.

John I asked my hubby about the soil and he'd not got a clue either but he did say the other plants are doing well :snorky:...it's good at releasing new leaves  I just think it's lost it's ability to flower

If you have other acid loving plants, Azaleas, Heathers, more Rhododendrons and they are doing OK then you must have acidic soil :blue thumb:

@JWK found the reason why just been looking and you get some that don't flower.

Bloom Pattern. Again, the species of your rhododendron matters! Some species simply don’t bloom every year, or will bloom heavily one year and need another to rest before doing it again. If your rhododendron went to seed last season, that can also have an influence on blooms – watch for next time and remove any dying blooms you find before they can become seed pods.
