Thanks Irmemac...I have a elastic bungee cord which I will use to hold them down, which should be strong enough to stop them from flying away.

I've purchased some green shading and although my garden is shaded during first part of day by mature trees at bottom of my garden once the sun comes around it starts getting full sun and gets quite hot. I'm growing toms, courgette, cucumber, bell peppers so is it ok to shade the entire thing or would it cause a problem for growing. My greenhouse is east.

Wow, you have got some big tree shading at the back ! :yikes:

Not sure which side you mean faces East, the door side ?

Its a pity you have got your opener on the panel nearest to the door rather than the panel/s further back as the rear of the greenhouse will not get that much air circulation.

Another vent on the other side but further back would be better and an auto opener worth every penny, plus I always used to almost poke my eyes out on those opener stays when I had one of those apex shapes.

Now we seem to be in the warm weather I would be tempted to remove that triangular shaped piece of glass at the top of the rear section and just tape up some small plastic mesh or similar so you get a real air flow though the whole greenhouse.

Even with shading, you can easily get 40c, but most plants will live with those peaks so do not get too worried.

Don't think I dare put up a pic of my greenhouse, no way do I keep it as clean and tidy as yours:)

Thanks Ricky, Yeah I know and they're a pain. I'm getting them cut back soon so hopefully helps. Wish I'd placed the greenhouse further forward but to late now.

Hi Jane0o0 I live not far from you Co Durham so same weather, I would not worry about shading I have non at all do not believe in it, as ricky says more ventilation, his idea of replacing the upper triangular pane with mesh is a good one. Pics of my greenhouse a bit earlier in the season when we had that hot weather Fog for days now, no shading, note two auto vents and louvre at far end, presently eating the first crop of toms. Blimey , thats very early for so far north, think it will be the end of June before I'm picking any.

Think you must have been using some extra heating to get them so advanced?

Like the twin house layout, still looks compact in the garden, yet twice the space and easy to use/insulate/heat just half in winter.

I just hope I'll still be able to grow toms in it.
