They look good but give it another 4 weeks at least but it does depend on when you planted?

Because Desiree are main-crop, that means they 'bulk up' later (than earlies). So there will be tiny tubers underneath the soil right now but they need time to develop.

Main crop varieties will give a bigger crop later compared to earlies.

I am growing spuds in containers , I have not done this for about 8 years . The tip I got for harvesting earlies , was two weeks after flowering . Presume that means about two weeks after the flowers have died back. So I am expecting late June for my crop.
I am growing Sarpo Miras as a main crop. What are the signs for when these are ready for harvesting ?

If you want to store them Snork, leave them in for 2 weeks after the haulms have dropped so the skins harden :)

I start counting as soon as they flower.

You can always have a furtle - carefully scrape away a little soil to have a butchers at the developing tubers. Eat them when they are small for best taste :)

Should be fine as long as the light hasn't got to the tubers:)

Hell I've had 6 as well! Nowhere near any of my spuds being ready apart from the ones in bags in the greenhouse are maybe a goer in a couple of weeks. It's been such odd weather here, baltic until May and then not a drop of rain and really hot since about the 7th. Most of my spuds are way behind and I am having to water 24/7. At this rate ALL my spuds including my 1st earlies will get blight:wallbanging:
