New pond - size and location help please

More seriously, a threat or an accident is a horrendous tragedy, we have all heard of these and obviously try to do our best to avoid the risks. But in the end, kids do learn to respect natural hazards when they grow surrounded by them. Climbing trees, swimming unsupervised and rambling in forests are the treasures of my childhood which are all potentially deadly.

Sadly, my kids never got that freedom with the nature and the days of loving neglect...

Good luck with the pond, it sounds really great and I bet even more species will move in this summer Good stuff!

 

Pics please @glasgowdan . Still not a lot going on with my little pond . Lots of water fleas and a few tiny beetles. The plants are growing well and flowering though.

 

Haha, no Great White Egrets for awhile, I agree....... but on on my 8/9 month old pond I've got loads of wildlife. A Linnet dropped in for a drink today, Swallows are regularly sipping and nest building in a nearby building. At least three species of dragonflies and two of damsilflies are regulaly present. And a toad dropped in too. So a lot of stuff bigger than a pond skater. So hang in there @luciusmaximus !

A frw photos here. The water has really cleared up though I'm sure I'll need to put more in. The ones I have got haven't grown much but enough to make a difference.

 

There are Little White Egrets who come here to over winter - size is not that important .

No pond skaters, just water fleas and a few black beetles swimming around. I wasn't expecting miracles but did think there would be more insect life, particularly as water warmed up a bit now. Maybe it's too warm

Not sure what you mean. There is no bird called 'Little White Egret'. Little Egret, yes but I doubt if they overwinter on Anglesey on a garden pond!

It was meant as a joke in response to ARMANDII's comments about great white's . I am familiar with the little egret as they are in the fields here during winter and sometimes on the beach. They are regular visitors and can be seen at various locations all over Anglesey.
