My Spotted Laurels keep getting yellow leaves with no green whatsover. The leaves aren't falling off yet, but they look horrible. What can be the problem?? :frown: It's not all of the leaves, just some and I recently (Few weeks ago) moved this plant because it was in too much sun, which I thought was the cause of the leaves going yellow, but it's still happening!

Also, I bought this lovely plant last year and it died off for winter, but has now come back and is twice the height!! But for the life of me I cannot remember the name of it!! The heads are much creamier white, in colour since I took this pic.

Hmmm, I really don't know how to make this image larger. I'm using this site: Upload Image — Free Image Hosting, but the link doesn't seem to copy properly!:scratch::scratch:

My spotted laurel is suffering too. Black bits on leaves and some mostly yellow leaves. Hard pruned it got good heathy regrowth.
Had a look at the bit with yellow leaves, pulled at the stems and half the plant came up.Dead base looked rotten. So a good prune and feed looks to have worked on the good bit but will watch out for any disease and it may be removed completely.

Sally, just caught up with this post. :)

The laurel? Looks very much like pest damage to me.....bay sucker? Prob a more correct name but it does appear at this time of year and, well, sucks the life out of the foliage. I would trim back, clear away debris and spray with an insecticide or soft soap. :) I dont think there is anything more sinister than that. A photo would help

Hmmm! Not sure of the plant but sure someone will know Sally. Looks a little like a persicaria ???

              See also above.

Cannot see any images of the Aucuba.
But to move an ailing evergreen with large leaves in the height of summer when it has been dry is a recipe for disaster. It may not survive the shock.
Spotted laurel are happiest in partial shade.

My does seem healthy apart from a few totally yellow leaves, which I have now removed, so hoping they won't get any more. I didn't know you could hard prune spotted laurels.

Anyway, hope your laurel picks up WeeTam!

Thanks for replying Verdun. :) Yes you could be right about the pest damage, will have to try and get something to kill garden pests with, as there are quite a few it seems. Just have to try and find something organic AND not too expensive!!

Dont be alarmed though Sally.....it does make a huge thing but, surprisingly, is not invasive. And you can divide it in autumn for more plants next year.....if you have the room :)
