Yep. I've been to the garden centre(s) again. This time for a whole bunch of plants, for pots, troughs and especially the jumbo flower bed. Including another pair of 'clearance' bargains that just need some TLC (i.e. mycorrhizal fungi and a few litres of Phostrogen). Today's haul...

    garden001.jpg

    garden002.jpg

    For the flower bed
    2x Dianthus Firestar
    2x Zauschneria Glasnevin
    2x Hebe Celebration
2x Ligustrum Jonandum (abandoned in the clearance section for £19.99 a piece)

    For the containers
    Petunias
    Salvia Red
    Cinerara Silver Dust

All being well the only other things we'll need to add to the bed are the daffs, tulips and snowdrop bulbs, once they make an appearance on the shelves, later in the year.

My replacement Chamaerops Palm to take over from my 25 to 30 year old Washingtonia Palm which, unfortunately, the "Beast from the East" managed to kill.:dunno::snorky:

Went to Lidl to buy some food and ended up with this lot.
That's a Bernisser hardy fuchsia which I haven't heard of before.
Got the perfect place for it too.

                    Gail, nice plants
Red Baron grasses are fantastic esp from mid summer onwards when the whole plants turn red. Have a large group of them here.....sure to feature them in pictures during the summer:)

Gail, the plant IS the leaves! Yes, that red colour extends to the whole plant as summer progresses. Same plant Gail, Imperata Cylindrica Red Baron.
I had a group next to white anemone last year but now I also have them elsewhere in front of dwarf delphiniums. Couple of weeks and should be photographable.
I once planted a "ribbon" of them in a friend's garden to make a sort of red river running through a bed of heathers. :)

Verdun well it should look lovely...the pink one only had Astilbe younique on it...but not what actual pink flower it is...I can't wait to see them Verdun.
I bet your friends garden looked :wub2: how you've described it :)

All we have left to do on the back garden is remove the pea gravel from in front of the decking and done the side by the fencing and add new there, as Bruno kicked a lot of larger ones on it and it don't matter how much you try to remove them, your still getting odd ones showing, so news going down :snorky:
