Well I'm yet to be convinced he is ALL bad, he certainly has a different approach to things, not saying it is always the right approach.:snorky:
On that one, time will tell.

But personally I'm totally fed up with mealy mouthed politicians beating about the bush all the time and achieving absolutely nothing.
Most are scared to even make a statement or put over their point of view though fear of upsetting someone.
To do things and achieve things you have to make waves.
Something that has been lacking for far too many years in the west, on the political front.

I mean, we are still apologising for things that happened 200yrs ago.

And on another front, it's about time Germany, the richest country in Europe, put their hands in their pockets and started looking after their own defense.
And I'll not excuse the UK from that point either.

If the US stopped propping up Europe's defenses, the other lot, (you know who they are;)), would be down on us like a ton of bricks.

Well, history has shown that America, and other foreign governments, are prone to dumping surplus goods onto other countries, [a] in an effort to undercut the home growers/manufacturers, such as back in the 70's and 80's of cheap steel and cheap brown coal from America affected British industry during that particular recession. GM grain and GM fed Beef was another example of American Governments trying to dump it into the European and UK markets at a cheap rate in order to get control over the food market. That only failed due to the negative implications of GM itself that were not appreciated by the UK and Europe.
The american aircraft industry has a record of using every trick in the book to suppress or stop any rival industries either importing to American markets or gaining any advantage in the foreign markets. Boeing is a prime example where it brought down Canada's manufacture of their own supersonic fighter aircraft, the numerous objections trying to stop other aircraft manufacturers trying to sell on the US market, again Bombardier in Ireland being an example, while they use every excuse to cry "foul" but yet totally turn a blind eye to their own attempts to create an unfair trading ground.
Trade wars are not good for anyone, but with a President who's an isolationist, attacks his closest allies, claims success and brownie points for anything he can, claims to have really good relationships with someone he met for only several minutes, then anything can happen. America
became isolationist in the 1930's, stuck it's head in the sand after crying "America first" until a certain country came along and booted them in the rear at Haiwaii where a lot a good men paid the penalty. America first? Fine, but there is a price to be paid that might come back and bite those who put the Dollar now before the future.
I'm no anti-american, I have friends over in the States who've I've known for decades and they are worried about the effects of an Administration that says "America first, claims success in everything, even when they've failed to do anything, and where their supporters are so fanatical they will dismiss anything they don't like as "fake news". But I do mean it when i say "God Bless America!:love30::snorky:

I saw this today on facebook.

Here is the real declaration form for bringing consumer goods into Canada

            e601 declaration scan002.jpg
I use this form every time I come back from the states. It is not a fake. The rest of the form is the part I fill in but I thought everyone would like to see the actual Government of Canada e601 declaration.

I declare every penny I bring back and most of the time, what I pay is our sales tax. Not excise tax.

@ARMANDII , sadly I have to agree about the aircraft industry suffering - I remember the day the Avro was killed. It was a directive from you know where, or else!

I still like nearly everyone I meet in the states when I visit and carry no animosity to her citizens. I just feel sorry for some of them. The same way I feel sorry for horses with blinkers. :)

@CanadianLori , find many of the items on the list, interesting. Like for example: is a curling iron cheaper in the USA? that it is bought in the USA. or are you unable to get it in Canada.

Yes, you've guessed it. We cannot access any of those items in Canada :heehee::roflol: Thanks for the giggle. :)

It is a "guide". They cannot possibly list every item for sale in the US. I looked up the official declaration forms for your customs and the sum total ends up about the same each way.

There are some things unique that cannot be bought here such as all those little donuts and various brands of canned goods etc.

I haven't been down in quite awhile because of the dollar. The exchange stinks for me at the moment.I may pop over one morning at the beginning of July "just because". Also, my girlfriends and I are planning to go to Jamestown NY this summer. To visit the Lucy museum :)

Just was trying to make some sense of the list. There were lots of "normal" items on it, could not figure out why, did think Canada would have them. So what do they do if you buy something not on the list? how is that figured? @CanadianLori

We have one. His riding is about a hundred miles from me but I have followed his common sense, caring approach in running his office. Wish they were all like that.

@redstar the items listed in the categories are examples. A straightening tong would probably fall in the same category as a curling iron. I'm sure your border guys would need a complete list and you could most likely access it online.
