My apologies for the poor quality, I struggled to keep the camera still on full zoom. Taken in my garden today - a young Woodpecker being fed, it's parent flying backward and forward from the bird table for food.

 

Walked to the local pond to try and find the Little Egret there, but the morning I remember to take a telephoto lens, it's not there.

Then I discover the Thistles are in flower and covered with thousands of Dagger Flies, but only having a telephoto lens I resorted to using my phone for this pic

 

I have been seeing Mr. Fox's tracks on the driveway and walk but this is his first appearance on my trail camera.

 

Dagger Flies again, unfortunately overcast and wind blowing the thistles about.

 

There's quite a few Scarlet Tiger moths on the comfrey plants at my plot

 

Those Dagger flies really are ugly! Do they bite @Scrungee ?

 

They certainly look scary enough to inject you with poisonous saliva which disolves your body tissues, then suck everything out leaving only skin and bones.

But I think they only eat nectar.

 

Opossum checking out the flower bed but did no damage.

"The opossum is a marsupial of the order Didelphimorphia endemic to the Americas." I did not realize they were marsupials until I looked it up.

 

We had this very fluffy and gorgeous Jay in the garden for the first time today.

 

I had one of those posing beside the bird bath. I believe it was year before last, let me see if I can find the picture..

 

I really like opossums. I had one show up here quite often. I felt like giving his cute little paws some mittens in the winter. They don't destroy your house, they clean up the dead stuff. Nice little fellows that snuck up over the border. I caĺled mine Orzech.

Now, reď squirrels from the US are nasty , vicious and not welcome. They don't get mittens..
