A huge difference there :). I like it

Very hot. Cut lawns, some watering, some potting up, some cuttings, some sweating, er, perspiring :snorky: and some edge trimming. Followed by a dip in the sea :fan:

Sorted friend's insurance and other paperwork earlier....promised a free drink for it :drunk:

All the heleniums are starting to flower now, as are dahlias, persicarias, well, most everything :wow:. Some of my favourites now so will post pictures when I can:)

Being treated later to a meal. Must starve myself for couple of hours:noidea:

A good job done, but your lawn looks pretty desperate for some water. When you get those light patches the grass takes an awful long time to recover.

@Doghouse Riley that's a fair observation. I never know what to do with the lawn. I have tried to feed it in the past but the dogs always eat the feed before it's had a chance to do anything. I don't water it. Perhaps I should.

It's been "scorchio" for days. I water everything each evening and mist spray the acers twice a day. This is it today.

Mind you I've possibly an advantage over some, no kids at home, no dog and we ain't on a water meter.

I'll be watering again this evening.

Its looking great G :dbgrtmb:, yes it wont hurt to water it i do mine twice a day in this heat, if your dogs are weeing on the garden that will have some impact on the patches, if you see your dog wee hose the area down it will help a little,

All ive done today is water the garden, noticed my everlasting peas have started to flower.

Feed and water it @Doghouse Riley ..its a plant too...I use a granular feed and weed (the one that burns the crap out of everything if you spread it too heavily (I use a proper spreader now)..then I feed it twice weekly with Miracle Gro
              Watering is a must.

But before you do all that....aerate the soil and scarify with a long tine rake
              Aeration.jpg
Honestly my grass was a complete mess and I did a little research and went back to basics and the results were unbelievable...but you have to feed and water....

Mine's fine I give it a feed of iron sulphate now and again. That's all it needs. It'll get a bit of a scarify in the Autumn.

This may sound a little daft and will amuse the neighbours no end.
In the early morning when the dew is heaviest on the grass, take a soft yard brush and walk up and down the lawn to force the dew into the soil....it may sound crazy but wear a pair of slippers and see how wet these become just with the dew.......

This is what greenkeepers at golf clubs do with the greens. They don't use a brush, they use a "swisher," like a long fishing rod. It stops the globules of water clinging to the top of the grass. But you're right, that's a good idea.

Yes i think it would get rid of the yellowing, like you say best used with a spreader set to the correct volume i burnt mine to bits with it :wallbanging:

I'm rubbish at using anything granular, well half of it is the rubbish spreaders supplied with the granules. So I always go for a soluble weed, feed and moss kill, when available, though Evergreen stopped making theirs.

No problems, I know neither of you are deliberately argumentative.

I have just had the sprinkler on in the back garden and a really strange thing happened. I received a text from an unknown number (supposedly from our water company)

"The continued hot weather means we're seeing a huge increase in demand for water in your area. We've got plenty stored in our reservoirs and we're pumping lots more into supply but we have to treat it first and its being used quicker than we can create it which can cause low pressures. We.??re therefore asking everyone to be neighbourly to prevent this particularly at peak times by.Avoiding garden sprinklers, they use as much as 4 people use in a day. "

Is big brother watching, is it a joke or just a coincidence that I am using a sprinkler at that particular time
