    Hi I'm Kev from Lancashire

New gardener. Really should of listened to my parents growing up when they were telling me garden things

I now have a small garden soil down both sides a lawn....complete with pet rabbits

So far I've got some tomato plants that I bought through the post and I'm just waiting on the first truss...which I believe is the name for the flowers

I want to grow more veg and fruit but have next to no knowledge

Thinking salad leaves, carrots and radishes as seem to have missed the boat for this year with growing stuff

Any tips, idiot guides, websites welcome

@Loki I looked what his books was about and came across this...which you would aready know about reading the books but useful for others :)

David Gerald Hessayon is a British author and botanist of Cypriot descent who is known for a best-selling series of gardening manuals known as the "Expert Guides" under his title Dr. D. G. Hessayon. The series started in 1958 with Be Your Own Gardening Expert and in 2008 it celebrated its 50th anniversary and the 50 millionth copy in print. They have become the best selling gardening books in history.

Herbs that can be sown now, for harvesting this year
                    Coriander and basil
Parsley should have been started months ago, chives also.
Mint is always best from cuttings so is oregano.
Thyme is very temperamental, buy plants not seed ( life is to short ) also with rosemary.

Maturity comes with age. Add the two together and you have Beauty

Cheers for the responses guys. I think a lot of work this year will be prep for next season.

I actually have that book and forgot. Someone bought it me years ago

                            Time to dig it out

                              Hi,

Sounds more like a shopping list for Bugs Bunny than yourself ! :snorky:

Its still not too late to grow many veg, if you can find some young plants in the garden centers like leeks and brassicas / broccoli etc they will give you fresh food right though to next spring.

Carrots and radish seed, still time, I'm only just sowing my runner beans, so you can easily get some growing now, nothing hard about them, better than reading a book in this weather.

If you are anywhere near the M62 its worth visiting Gordon Riggs center at Walsden/Todmorden ( much bigger than the Rochdale branch)
