      Good day everyone
      Seems we are all in a great mood in spite of the heat. We got about a quart of rain last evening which was the equivalent of about 2 drops every 5 inches. Or so it seems. Guess I'll have to turn on the big watering system for the first time this year. I've worked fairly hard to get a nice lawn and I don't want the grass to drop dead for something as simple as lack of water.

      I finished my wage earning work yesterday so I have time to play out there. It is hot but the sun won't reach the back yard for another couple of hours which gives me a chance to do a little weeding before it gets too hot.

            Good afternoon @KFF my friend I deliberately used the word "again" as I knew someone would pick up on it,I think Mrs Woo was referring to a day in 1960 when a copy of "Lady Chatterley's Lover" duly arrived in a brown envelope(58 years since) sent I must say to the wrong address:whistle:

                        Aloha everyone,

                        Another warm and busy day in the offing.

                        I'm pleased with how I'm getting on in the garden as I'm doing a better job of weeding than Michael usually does. I'm actually working on digging out a whole area infested with lots of strawberry weed. It's a fiddly job as, apart from digging all the other lesser weeds around them, it needs careful deep digging so that I can grab the taproot at least 6" below ground level and gently pull upwards. Some of the taproots are well over 15" long.

                        To be fair to Michael, we wouldn't be happy paying him to do it properly as it takes so long to do a small area. He hasn't been around for a couple of weeks and won't be back for a while. He has a big job a couple of doors away where our neighbour who lived there died suddenly. The place was only rented and was rather neglected for the last ten years or so. The owner can't rent it out or sell it until it has had a lot of work done on it. The back garden was a mess and the whole of the inside needs decorating and Michael has got the job (he's also a handyman and his girlfriend does painting).

                        We got him in to cut the hedges but we're coping with everything else and I seem to be coping quite well physically. :blue thumb: I'm able to make the time for it as the lawns don't need cutting in this weather. :)

                          I reckon the heat wave makes us plan our time better, and as we are doing shift work there is an urgency for watching the time. I have also been surprised at how much is done outside considering the extra time staying in the shade to chill out.

                              Just done another hour weeding and got it into the wheelie bin, with a bit of a squash :whistle:, and got away quickly as the binmen we're coming down the road. They usually complain that I make the bins too heavy. :heehee: Poor souls! :doh: :snorky:
