        Aloha everyone,

I've already done some work in the garden before sunrise - it was light already.

I have a toilet to get fixed before going shopping but shall get a lot of gardening done before it's too warm. Another hot one on the way!

Keep well, cool and have a great day

        Aloha!

          Morning all :)

GP hadn't done the paperwork yesterday, so that trip was aborted, and we spent our time in the garden instead. Off to Staines today - need to.pop into Primark and get some cheap shorts as I lost a bit of weight whilst in hospital, then will pop into the docs on the way back.

Stay safe in the sun, and have a great day everyone :)

Afternoon all, still cannot get the results of my CT and Barium Meal scans from the hospital. Certainly taking their time to let me know. Hope you have all had a good day. It did try to rain around lunchtime but never amounted to much.

Well, we had a good day out - getting the wheelchair onto the bus was dead easy, as was getting off at the other end. We buzzed around the shops just fine (Debenhams was a bit on the tight side however, and looking really old fashioned - and bloomin' expensive!); getting the bus back was a wee bit more challenging, not least as our service was completely mullered by Hampton Court Flower Show - so, we got a different route that goes pretty close to our doctors (our next port of call), and then it was a walk/scoot back to the doctors.

Well, all I can say is.... it was an experience, and not a good one. The pavements around here are shockingly bad, and then crossing at a pedestrian crossing, the camber down to the road and then up again almost threw me out of the chair. After the doctors, it was a scoot home, and to be honest it just got worse and worse..... holes in the pavement, manhole covers either sticking up or sunken, dropped kerbs that were so steeply sloped they were useless, or the kerbstones themselves were crooked and sticking up. At one point, I got stuck in a bit where the pavement had worn through to gravel, and was literally wheel-spinning - if I didn't have Mrs C with me to give me a shove, I probably would still be there now, burnt to a crisp. And to cap it off, in places, there were cars parked half-on half-off the pavement (in fairness, they would be blocking the road if they didn't) - and whilst there was room to get past, the awful pavement surface had the chair rocking side to side and I was paranoid that I was going to contact with a car.

These pavements are so bad, I am going to write to my MP, as I cannot believe that nobody has suffered an injury from them, be they a pedestrian or a wheelchair user. I found myself asking what in the name of the wee man I pay council tax for.

Sainsburys have just delivered, with some stupid substitutions, so they are next on my hit list

If you had told me before today that you could wheelspin a wheelchair, I would have laughed myself silly - but I was properly stuck, wheelspinning away... best of it is, I don't live out in the sticks, I am within the M25!

I am certainly seeing things in a different way that I used to, and feel really sorry for people who are on crutches, sticks, wheelchairs or are just generally infirm around here.

On a better note, there were quite a few really nice people who stopped their cars to let me cross a road etc - one chap who had just got out of a parked car went to the trouble of checking that there was no traffic coming to let me cross.

                    Aloha everyone,

@Fat Controller that sounds like a real pain in the backside! I'm sure that you can explain fully to your MP what the problems are. How about inviting the MP to accompany you for a 15 minute stroll. He/she could also use it as an opportunity to meet some constituents and do a bit of glad handing!

I've just come in from an hour of weeding and the sun started to warm me up. I shall go back out there soon and carry on.

MOT for my car today but I'll not have a service done on it as I'm still waiting for my new car and don't intend spending anything on this one. It's six months since I ordered it and still have a couple of months to go.

Keep well and have a great day.

                    Aloha!

                        Morning all :)

Bright and sunny here (again!) and already really warm. Got family coming today, so if I go quiet over the next few days or so, you know why.

@shiney - that was my plan; invite him to come with me, and see first hand the state of these pavements and the issues that it causes. Some of the manhole covers are sticking up a good couple of inches, so they are a trip hazard for everyone, not just a problem for me. The pavements are just so old, and they have been dug up so many times over the years that they are now like a patchwork quilt, only not as soft.

I am also trying to scheme a way to attach my old dashcam to the wheelchair (I can power it from one of those el-cheapo USB battery packs), then I could have full HD video footage of just how bad some places are - - - I would willingly pass that to the council and MP, and hopefully put a fire under them.

Have a great day everyone, and don't drink any more than I would....... :snorky:

Brilliant idea if you can do it...the cursing my hubby does alone in the car when out through them and the car suspension being affected :dunno:...these days I never get a peaceful ride when out with him :help:
