Stags horn. Yes it's very invasive, next door has got one but it came from their nextdoor neaghbour. We have suckers coming up in our garden all the time.
Just looked it up to see if it was the same and it is. If you cut it,it stinks.

Stags Horn to me @Logan would be a different plant Rhus typhina...but yes its invasive not massively but you just dont know where the suckers will appear..this was one such sucker (still in the same garden as the parent tree) but approx 12 feet away from the main trunk. I love it though and will keep it in a container always.

Logan, will do but he's slightly mucky at moment. Wet from beach then he decided to dig in the garden. Took him into town earlier and everybody wanted to touch him; took me ages :)
It will be a walk in the woods later ...beach will simply be too hot in the afternoon

Stag horn...rhus typhina....is not really a tree for anyone's garden unless he/ she is warned beforehand about its suckering propensities. Locally, one tree has suckered throughout the garden....hasnt helped that its in grass and the mowing has simply intensified its habit. I was lucky, when I first got into gardening I planted one but was soon warned how it would behave; it was removed inside a few weeks

Although this tree is not Sumac, (staghorn, rhus) I believe that it is referred to as "stinking Sumac" in America, where it is indeed a bit of a thug. Evidently the crushed crushed leaves smell a bit like cat pee
