      @NigelJ is that aloe actually in the soil? Is it hardy?

      @CarolineL
      Yes it is hardy, it is growing in a very well drained sunny bed. I first saw it flowering at Paignton Zoo some years ago and then I found one and it has flowered every year since. Ity will get cut back to some extent when the flowers are over.

        Thanks @NigelJ - since you are in Devon, your 'hardy' is probably very different to mine :smile:
        Might be worth an optimistic try though

          Basket of Fire never really did much for me @kazzawazza how is yours doing at the moment...My main crop will be Apache and Scotch Bonnet and if I can get seeds from Carolina Reaper I will be doing well

            Nice! I left mine at my old house and forgot a cutting :gaah:

            It's hardy here in the Cotswolds so it should be fine for you.

              I bought some fruits - hot as hell and totally fantastic :dbgrtmb:
              Interesting fact of the day - chillies (the hotter the better) release endorphines in the brain much like sex does. Which is why many people find hot food wonderful!

                Eating chocolate also increases the levels of endorphins released into the brain, giving credence to the claim that chocolate is a comfort food.
                I’d sooner have chocolate than a Carolina Reaper [IMG]

                    I only wanted these as a kinda novelty plant...first I tried a propagator but failed then I went my own route in the greenhouse with bog std. compost and they germinated..late as with yours but if I can get seed I'll be a happy teddy. Scotch Bonnet and Apache will do fine for the sauce I christened The Widowmaker but having a reaper in there would be a killer lol

                      Excellent :blue thumb:
                      I do a potato salad with a difference - just new potatoes rolled in Encona hot pepper sauce (a habenero based chilli sauce) and your sauce sounds like an ideal candidate.
