We've had a pot of it for about 20 years - lovely scent when touched. We keep it in a pot as it's not frost hardy here. We put it in the cold greenhouse over winter.

Mulching and feeding the Hydrangea's I think according to @Verdun on another members thread I think this needs to be done with a matter of urgency. They are not looking their best this season mostly due to the hot weather I expect. They are well established bushes.. I feel I need more water retention and nutrient provision...
Plus note..The grass is looking swell a vibrant green oasis among the local Scorched Earth

I wish my lawn looked that good. It is scorched with huge cracks all over it. Feels like it will never recover! :cry3:

Going to dig over the borders now. And will be thinking what else to plant on the lotty.

Does anyone think another sowing of peas would work or is it far too late?

Another sowing Snorky? Yes. Go for it. It is late but I have done it before. Crop will be less...well, was for me. If you already have the seed use it. Keep crop watered and cool :)

Hi BigC, the barrels was cut in half top and bottom cut out of them clumping bamboo is in them and everlasting pea is scrambling over some and passion flower clematis climbing over another,

A few reasons i did it like this, one i wanted quick height i gained nearly 2ft, two if i ever wanted to move them i can run a cheese wire under the bottom of the half barrel.

Well been quiet for a while but here's an update, it's hot outside so I'm doing things in the kitchen and conservatory where it's 33 deg quite normal.

Just a small hole in the kitchen wall has developed into bi fold doors new sink and new unit doors, jury is still out on worktops.
Installed sliding wire draws in all base cupboards so I don't have to get on my old knees to get a dish, or find that plastic lid that fits

Just to keep me on my toes we suddenly decided to get rid of the mountainous drive of stone and concrete, so now we have a flat drive in block paving. This was not on this years menu but is a welcome addition.

We have a poorly dog as well when we found a egg sized lump on his jaw, not that he's bothered just a lively. Good job we have him insured as it could get to four figures soon, looks like it is an abscess by the tests so far.

Soon I hope to have rest but don't shout it as the good lady might get wind of it.

I've done my couple of hours weeding this morning before it warms up. Yesterday I repotted 20 chillies, 15 Bowles Mauve, some Penstamons and a whole load of Hebes.

The rest of the time out there is taken up with watering.

Researching the fitting of a two way (weatherproof) exterior electrical switch box and collecting the parts and equipment needed for that...Need to run an outside light at the bin store and to run the waterfall pump.
                        Big Concern.
Wasps have arrived here and they keep drinking from the pond (on Lilly Leaf)...my main concern is with the new preformed waterfall, it has an overhanging lip obviously to re-enter the main pool...behind that and underneath there is a void...if they find that and build a nest then I could be in a lot of trouble as its not that easy to get at or move.....fingers crossed...felling a little apprehensive as to what preventative/evasive action I could take to alleviate this potential catastrophe. Whilst I dont think there is much I can do other than hope...any ideas are warmly welcomed

                          Another hot day building today.

First thing I deadheaded the roses and petunias, and put some "heating up" water on the thymes - even they are struggling this year! Then I decided it was time to get the mower out. No grass to cut, but lots of flower-spikes and seed-heads of the spikey "summer dandelion" thingie that is throughout the grass. I mowed around the field scabious, and wild achillea that is just starting to flower. But we have hardly any clover this year - poor bees!!

Early morn watering and picking of beetroot, lettuce, carrots, spring onions, radishes.

                            Very hot again

Later it will be more watering and picking of fruit.....last of the peaches, blueberries and gooseberries but plenty of blackcurrants left. :) Tomatoes and runner beans will be pickable soon:)

harvested more flowers (zinnias, cosmos, gladioli) and french beans today. blanched and froze the beans and have chopped up all my garlic and it's currently sat in citric acid for 24hrs and I'll drain and add oil tomorrow.

spent the morning watering the garden and have been feeding with miracle grow as things are looking a bit sad with all this heat.

Done a nice full day, 5.30am to 6pm at my companions :)
Rosie’s in season so her little chap and mine have had a full day of flirting. Not a problem as he’s had the chop but he’s as bad as Rosie.
Got home and the wasps have reappeared so it seemed like yesterday’s calm after the treatment was false hope. I had a good look but did not lift a board from the step but they maybe under the patio it’s self but not sure.
I’m not brave enough to strip some boards to have a peek so I’ll just try some powder this time round.
