Well, Theresa has scraped through again. The vote in the House went her way 301 - 307. Let's see what happens now!

Yes in fighting among the tory party, no doubting that, but coming up with something that parliament will agree to and also the EU is pretty unlikely.
Especially bearing in mind a fair amount of MPs are still hell bent on stopping us leaving.
The EU dont want us to leave either.

I still say a united front from Government and Parliament from almost day one would have got us some kind of deal, by now, with the EU.

As it is the divisions in the UK has pretty much scuppered us getting any kind of deal with the EU.

I thought it was the EU 'negotiators' that scuppered any chance of a deal acceptable to the UK.

The EU negotiators have had very little to "negotiate" bearing in mind we dont tell them what we want, due to Government and Parliament not getting their act going.
          Divisions, house of lords, etc.
Just a talking shop from start to finish the whole lot of them.
That before the other talking shop, the EU, get a chance.

I agree. But they did what they had to to secure what was better for NI, and no doubt, their constituencies in particular. They're not natural bedfellows and I'm sure that on both sides the pill tasted a little bitter but so be it. I'd rather not have a tory government but it is acceptable and there was nowt corrupt about it.

It would have been a fundamentally better idea for something of this magnitude to have been devised amongst a cross party group rather than left to a weak single party (OK the other parties I don't see as particularly strong either). It would have avoided a lot of meandering dealing behind the scenes and better represented Britain. This has been a fiasco from the start

I kind of go along with that idea, but, would that cross party group contain, leavers, remainers or some of both.
If, some of both, you are back to square one IMO, because that is what has been holding back the process.

I see that the EU is now preparing for a no deal brexit - it's looking more and more likely given Mike's initial response to the white paper.

                        You can see it coming.

Someone said once that the EU never make a deal until midnight on the day.
I think they like it that way, as it puts pressure on the opposition, namely us in this case.

When you think about it that is what negotiation is all about, bluff, and who can hold out the longest.

Which is why we still need to been seen preparing for a no deal situation also, and should have been from day one, but all the fairies involved have pulled the rug from under any negotiating that might have happened on our part.

Too late now, who knows, but I cant see our lot forming a consolidated front in order to even come close to having any sensible negotiating stance.
