    @Verdun ...no messing about with me :snorky: concerning my plants ;) got no fleece so cut a spare top up and the curtain we used over my camellia as been cut also and both Astilbes covered and the carex on the front garden...until I can purchase some cover properly :)

    You dont want to exclude light Gail, simply filter it. So, very short time only whilst sun is strongest :)

      Verdun how about from 11am till 3pm as the heat is at it's strongest then :)

      @Verdun I forgot to mention there was a lining side to the curtains in cream is that better to use :what:

          Gail, you need to search for greenhouse shading net. You can buy whatever quantity you need. You can either make small frames for each plant, or put in some nice big 10ft posts (like a pergola) to shade the whole garden, using a staple gun to fix the shading net to the wood.

              Or simple fleece....cheap as chips Gail :). Or a lace curtain?

              I have a plant here that usually is fine but this year the heat of the sun has bleached it a little; for past 2 weeks or so I have draped a fleece over it ..as Tetters said between 11 and 3pm....and it is now fine.

                Make sure you get the mix right it, took me a couple of goes if I'm honest...thin leaves may be brittle and easily broken if knocked, but I'm sure you've done your homework..atb and dont forget to post your efforts...

                    @Tetters just purchased some shading netting it comes tomorrow 5 x 2m 50% shade...I can drop it over the plants when the heat really starts and drop gravel on the corners to hold it :dbgrtmb:

                      Here today it is cooler and very refreshing with cloud cover at the moment so no need to protect anything from the sun. :) A lovely day to come though without the extremes of heat I think
