Mark I haven't got the 3 down the back no more mate...tried killing a weed "Oxalis" and set the one on fire :loll:….hubby was hitting it with a cloth and because they was growing over the pathway I removed them but we've got the big one still on the front...which my hubby wanted to flower and because it split it open on top as now been trimmed back again...he'll make his mind up yet ;)….that trimmer was ok mate

Feeling it today, first hedge job done then clearing out a dried up pond. Near fainted in the pond as it’s so blasted hot.
10 min sit down then another hedge job. I wish I was 21 again.

Gail I’m all finished it’s silly temp out there. Felt rough after the pond job, had a quick break and I’ve finished the other job.
Going to chill now after a mighty cold shower!

I called in the local Timber Yard on my way home tonight from Manchester to order wood for a project in the garden. I've got so many Bearded Irises in large pots around the garden that I've decided to build an 8' long two tier staging/bench along the South facing rear wall of the garage and place as many of the Irises on there as I can. I've bought from the Timber Merchant for decades and had an idea of what timber, and how much, I would need. I explained to the Yard Guy what I was going to do and he got as enthusiastic as me!!
He showed me different sizes and kinds of timber and saved me quite a lot of money and suggested exactly what I was thinking I needed......Scaffolding Planks. They're thick enough and tough enough to take the constant heavy weight of large ceramic/clay pots when the planks are laid along the staging...so I bought two along with the rest of the timber and they're going to be delivered tomorrow. I'm not going to rush the job as I want to get it right and for it to last for years, so I'll be cutting, creosoting and screwing the wood in the cool of the day. I'm looking forward to getting the pots neatly placed on the staging and it will tidy up that area while making the pots easier to water.:coffee::snorky:

Hi Big C, actually I misnamed the stuff, it's actually called "Creocote". I actually can't tell the difference as it looks the same, smells the same, and tastes the same as the original Creosote"
I've used a lot of timber over the years, my fences are 6' long 2" x 4" lengths dropped between the concrete posts up to the height of 6' with wooden frames of chicken wire placed on top to keep my cats in the garden and other cats out. I hate having to repair or replace fences or other timber constructions I've built such as my Arbour and I find the normal proprietary, water based wood preservative hardly lasts a season without having to be repainted. So I used creocote for longevity. I don't use it for jobs near plants as they really don't like fresh creocote but over time I've found they will climb over it. I've also got about 8 5 liter cans of the stuff and it's about £12 a can these days at Wilco's. So I might as well use it and I've no need to creosote the scaffolding planks as they will last for ever.

I need creosote.. proper stuff. My coop has red mite :(

Not today but Friday, emptied my shed!! Completely. Then hosed it down as there was spiders everywhere.. scrubbed out with flash and now it smells of lavender :) took a delivery for fence posts and postcrete and got to work on putting them in the shed.. super pleased, it's not a mess anymore!

Saturday cleaned chooks, moved the run and coop right out, washed all down and the patio, moved it around and went ape with DE powder and fly killer (girls were out on the grass). Took me a good 4 hours :/ decided not to put anything on the floor until autumn. Just not worth it and much easier to clean (and cheaper)

Sunday, I finally painted the rest of the fence panels (boring, dark oak..) and painted the shed door a lovely shade of purple :)

Yesterday, cut the grass!!! Had clover and some unsightly crud sticking up.. and then was super naughty and left the hose on it for a good soak..

                          Today, nada. It's my daughter's 12th birthday :)

You've put a fence in your Shed, Linz???:scratch::heehee:

I can't tell the difference, Linz, and I used a lot of Creosote before they took it off the market and replaced with Creocote.:dunno: Creocote will certainly kill any insect it comes into contact with but Red Mite will come back if the conditions are right.:wallbanging:
