My acanthus and agapanthus are looking spectacular this year. That said most of the other plants are suffering. Living in Suffolk, where the highest temperatures in the country have been recorded this week, I'm seriously considering more drought tolerant plants.

                Hiya Logan :)
Hardy here and, judging by the Beast from the East earlier in the year giving us a taste of what you guys regularly get, should be hardy in most places. There is a "but", viz., warm, free draining soil is essential. Mine always survive outside over winter.

I take cuttings though every summer, next month, and if you do this you will have Black Adder every year.:)

Cut lawns and pruned (hedgetrimmer) a large hebe.....hot work today  Runner beans to pick along with salad stuff .......healthy eating if I dont add a plateful of potato crisps as is my habit at the moment!!:noidea:

Hiya Verdun and thanks, i will try and get some. How easy is it to grow from seed? Wasn't very impressed with Kudos Coral, very short and the bees didn't see them. Does it grow taller in the second year?

Not sure it produces seed....that's why its such long flowering logan:)
Hmmm! Havent thought too much about Kudos and bees. Come to think of it, the taller ones (Black Adder, Sangria, Summer Sky etc) do attract lots of bees. I shall have a look tomorrow to see if bees swarm over the kudos varieties :noidea:

@Logan The Kudos series and the more fancier colour types have longer trumpet like flowers which only long-tongued bees like the carders can get in to. They are of course, designed for pollination by humming birds which is why they are nicknamed hummingbird mint. :) They are lower growing and more 'evergreen'

Agastache black adder/blue boa/blue fortune are much taller and upright, more herbaceous in habit & accessible to all types of bee in the UK. They are a real magnet, I did lose some to the excessive cold and wet that the beast from the east brung but I'm on clay so to be expected.

Thank you @Mark56 but In the catalogue it said attractive to bees.
I will get some of the black adder, not sure if it will be hardy here in the west midlands, but i will give it a try and maybe take cuttings.
