Well today I went to the Codsall garden centre...I ended up at the till end again and purchased two Kniphofia "Flamenco" was £11-99 with 50% knocked off so I paid £12 for the two.

Then I saw small cactus plants on sale £1-99 each in flower brought 3 and the gravel mix.

Hi @Gail_68 , good choice on the Kniphophia sweetheart.

You get different colours off the same plant.

I know mate, they had a red / yellow and the multi coloured one so I got them while 50% was knocked off and I trimmed them and removed and dead leaves...I had two down the back when the dog was alive in red but he ruined them in the end keep cocking his leg :dunno:

The Carex was wasn't very good when removed so they've been binned, there'll will be some moving of plants around come September.:)

I love the look of those kniphofia, we don't have any of those in the garden, but I'd like to get some, so I'll be looking out for these when I'm next at a garden centre.

We've created a new border in the front garden which I'm gradually filling with colour.

Already planning ahead to planting lots of Spring flowering bulbs in Autumn.

another dwarf....the smallest of the Wild Swan series. This is elfin Swan. Delightful at only 30 cm or so. Again, although just beginning to flower it will comtinue through autumn

IMG_4747.JPG Through the arch to a quiet secluded spot.....prob longer than it looks at about 35' to 40'
Note the difference in size between Elfin Swan in foreground and Ruffled Swan further back that has been flowering for many weeks now.
Wish I could capture the scent from honeysuckles over the arch. Perennial heliotropes there too for wonderful scent

Are those Sempervivums endemic to your local Lidl or is this an offer store wide?

Gail, the carex looks best from autumn into spring. Try to put it in somewhere if you can. The carex is evergreen but a cool weather plant :)
