Cutting up pallets for winter firewood!

Got given some empty paving slab pallet cases, made of hardwood and nice and dry, want to get them cut, stacked and covered in case there's a thunderstorm. Might be the hottest day of the year so far, but the stove goes on in just over 2 months.

I made a nice little master piece in the shade to day ;) with my 3 new Cactus plants...hubby brought a pot that wasn't any good in depth...so I ended up hoping hubby had a piece of White friars glass I could have  he came up trumps for me and it's now in the kitchen window :yahoo:

No gardening today but it looks like I have got myself embroiled in a neighbour's dispute. She is an MS sufferer and being intimidated by a family next to her. They have damaged her fence, are rude to her, have put up cameras facing into her garden and threatened to cut down her tree. We feel they are trying to drive her out, maybe to acquire her home for themselves.
She has told the police but they are disinclined to get involved.

Her story has angered me and I will go see for myself tomorrow what is going on and see what I am up against.

I remember an old lady not too far from me where her neighbour decided to drill a large hole, gutter size, into her wall to drain his rainwater into her garden. Pure bully. Sheer nerve.
I blocked the hole with cement then, when dry, paid him a visit. Harassment stopped.

Where do these bullies come from??:noidea:

@Verdun if the lady has legal protection cover under her household policy, her insurers will deal with any neighbour disputes. We have always had this cover, because you just never know if you are going to need it or not. Solicitors are expensive.

Verdun I know how you feel sorry for the lady and it seems your nature to stop these stupid issues but be careful where your own home is involved :)

It wouldn't happen in NI....Life's needy would be well protected and not by bonefide means...There is a lot of bad things about this place but if that sort of thing went on somebody would be getting a word in their ear...and I could guarantee that the bullying of that nature against the vulnerable of society would stop in an instant....that sort of thing would not be tolerated

anyway...the Hosepipe came out and all is super soaked especially the Hydrangea...
"I have a bit of a dilemma.." years ago I purchased a Silver Birch (Jackamonti)..I liked it so I just bought it..It presently resides at the back of the Greenhouse in a large Tree tub....I want to put it in the ground but I need to cut a paving slab to open up the ground....its about 4ft from my fence and the neighbours garden...I dont wish to annoy the neighbours with sprawling branches (their actual houses are about 70ft away) I plan to keep it in check by trimming and pruning the branches do you think this is a good idea or just get shot and have a smaller species.

Without appearing rude, that is exactly why we have "bully boys" as they bank on nobody standing up to them. Yes one can sit back and do not a lot or alternatively try to help.
I,unfortunately know precisely what can happen if you dain to stand up to unsavoury characters. Without going into too much detail, I had to be removed from my own house (not the 1 I live in now) by armed police officers for my own safety and my daughter likewise was taken out of her primary school for her safety. The individual who tried to shoot me ended up in jail. Why was he "upset" with me? I objected to 1 of his many planning applications as was my legal right to do so.
Do I regret standing up to the bully? well it was a horror experience for my then 7 year old daughter and I regret that but would I stand up for my rights or for those who were being bullied again, yes I probably would. I don't think I could live with myself if I just ignored injustice.
Good luck @Verdun, try to keep it on a civil level if possible.

Silu sorry you had to experience this bad episode in your life and I agree the best approach is to be civil but with how todays society is altering, as you know things can get out of hands with the stupidity of not those trying to stop it but those wanting to take it a step further :)
