Verdun they was burning bad and I kept them well watered as you mentioned and I like to look at plants open to the eye not covered...I still have my Astilbes covered and they're coming back nicely...thanks for the advice with those as they're a beautiful plant.

Well done on your purchase @Jack Sparrow - even if no commission was offered!

Sempervivums are unfussy so long as you keep them well drained. But they would appreciate being potted on, with grit added into the new soil. You could keep them separate for now or put them together in one big shallow pot - my mother used to have a fine permanent display in an old stone sink.

I bought some sharp sand recently to use as grit. Would this be the right thing. I have a shallow bowl planter left over from a display I bought in the spring. I could use that.

6 supervivium in a shallow pot. Eventually I hope to expand the rocky area in front of the barrel and plant them there. For now they should be ok where they are, weather and dogs permitting.

I fixed the broken bird bath with gorilla glue. It seems to be holding it's own weight so far. It's still not dog proof though.

Sadly my visit to Lidl (3 stores) this morning did not result in me acquiring any Supervivium much to my dismay...The nearest i could find was B&Q but almost double the pricetag...

My visit to Lidl today got me this catch of Nandina Domestica at £7.99.
