Whether we like it or not what happens in the US can have a major effect on the rest of the world. So it is news and it is relevant to us here. Trump does get a lot of coverage but that is because what he says (he doesn't actually seem to be achieving very much) is so utterly ridiculous or false (lies). There is not a situation where it is being used to hide bad domestic news, far from it as the UK/EU/Tory situation is dominating our headlines.

I agree, it was the one time that the the media left him and Michelle alone :heehee:

The media and large corporations have been running things for years. We got Blair and Cameron because Murdoch told us we could have them.

That is probably fake news in the States!
He got the planning permission as it was considered that it was a price worth paying for the 6000 jobs that they promised. So far, that has amounted to less than 200 jobs! The damage was expected, where they went wrong was actually believing anything that he said.

Yeah, just wish someone would build a golf course around here, if it trashed the environment we would hardly notice, Houses, Houses, Houses, Houses.

              (small interlude...)
A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him.
He asked, "What are all those clocks?" St. Peter answered, "Those are Lie-Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock.
Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move."
"Oh," said the man, "whose clock is that?"
              "That's a new born baby's.
The hands have never moved, indicating that the baby has never told a lie."
"Incredible," said the man. "And whose clock is that one?"
St. Peter responded, "That's your wife's clock. The hands have moved twice, telling us that she has told only two lies in her entire life."
"Where's Donald Trumps's clock?" asked the man.
"Trump's clock is in Jesus' office. He uses it as a ceiling fan."

That's the problem when bureaucrats deal with businessmen. They don't take notice of what's being said - only what they think is being said! He only said 'up to' 6000 jobs. 200 is 'up to'. :dunno:.

If they had Shiney on the negotiating team permission would have a depended on a binding statement of a minimum number of employees plus a reinstatement clause to make sure that any environmental damage done during building would have to be reinstated by a minimum period afterwards. :paladin:

That 'news' report about Trudeau is 'Fake News' and should have been researched properly before posting. Posting known fake news never helps any argument!

You only need to look at what the Vatican Enquirer (where the link above comes from - and is two years old) says about itself.

"The stories are not real and purely fictional. All details are fabricated, and is not intended for readers under 18 years of age. Invented names are use in all of its stories, except in cases of known public figures being satirized. Any other use of real names is purely accidental and coincidental."

It also quotes 'theglobalsun.com' in the article. That's a non-existent organisation quoted by satirical organisations on Twitter!!!

I suggest that anyone who wishes to post a link to a possible controversial news item checks that the quote is real news.

The Vatican Enquirer takes the pee out of Trump more than any other person. They have said in the past that he has been a gift from heaven for them. :snorky:

This is one of their front page features that I liked - absolutely true, of course  :heehee:

To be fair there are plenty of houses going up as well. None of the affordable type of houses that locals and/or potential employees could afford though. Just the lovely, juicy type of houses for people who really don't need any more houses and who contribute naff all to the local economy.

Even if it were true why on earth would anyone consider it worth sharing? What would the big deal have been? I don't understand.

Ah, satire. You need to appreciate that satire is not in the American dictionary.

What would the late and truly great Bill Hicks have made of Trump. He had enough fun with George Bush The Elder, sadly died before George Dubbya but Trump would have been ambrosia from the comedy gods.

I dont see that way. The vast majority of the Presidents tweets have nothing to do with the UK,socially, politically or financial. Its for his own domestic and business audience only yet we all get fed it almost daily over here.

Its used as a way to dumb down our news output in the UK. We dont get to hear whats happening in the Uk except for the ongoing Brexit nonsense or the lastest dross from inside Westminster.

The news media could instead focus more on stories that are more relevant to peoples lives all acrosss the UK.

To be honest I have no interest in hearing about the cat that was rescued from the old oak in the garden of Rose Cottage :heehee:

Seriously though, there is plenty of UK news, none of it hidden. But the important stories will always come along first. And what the president decides to tweet can be relevant/important as it is how he has chosen to communicate and also because it gives us a (worrying) insight into how his mind works. The vast majority of his tweets are ignored by the UK media simply because they are irrelevant.
